You don't want him.

I think he has major potential. Let him hang out at MSU for awhile so he can prove me right then be considered to replace Saban

His stint from 2008-2014 as an NFL DC was awful.
He actually had a couple top defenses until he went to the Bears
quote:

Georgia's defense has improved since he left.
in his final two years UGA had the 6th and 14th best defenses in the country.
He brought in a shite ton of ridiculous defensive talent that is the reason that UGA's defense is so dominant this year.
quote:

Inheriting a hot mess means nothing if he doesn't do something with that hot mess. Talk to me if they do better than 1-2 more wins to close out the season
This is legitimate. I feel like if he goes 10-3 this year you absolutely make him a top 3 candidate. That team has an average of the 8th best talent in that conference over the past 4 years with Michigan, Penn St, Ohio St, and Maryland all with more talent on roster. He's doing what he's doing with a lot of transfers who didn'tdo much at their old teams.
quote:

He's disliked because he's a Kentucky or Arkansas or Missouri type hire. Not a supposed "top 5 job" hire.
Eh there are plenty people wanting Aranda and he's damn near similar. Only difference is one is an ace recruiter, and the other has coached at LSU as a coordinator in recent memory.

Some people "the woke birds" don't like him because of obvious ignorant reasons, and others don't like him because his name doesn't pop. Some don't like him because he's not an offensive minded coach, and the last group doesn't like him because he's not the top 3 coach they want.

Derek bots have been replaced by saban bots pimping our c list candidates

I have noticed. What the heck is going on here..

Why are we okay with settling on such a meh idea? Already making excuses left and right to justify it.

What really stinks is Michigan St is on a BYE, so we have to wait 2 weeks before they play again.

I don't like him for the same reason I actually don't like Bill O'Brien. They both get too much credit for several losses, because of circumstances. I much prefer a more proven guy, even if they had better talent. Or simply a guy with a better overall record.

We are really entertaining a coach who went 2-5 last year to replace a guy who also lost 5 games a year ago?

Un-fricking-believable.

The dude has never been anywhere more than 2 years.

Why?

I don’t think the answer is always “promotion”
was the LSU DB coach and then got a promotion to OSU DB coach then Ohio St Co-DC. He went from the Browns DB coach to their DC. When his head coach was fired, like NFL head coaches do, they brought in their own guys.

He then got the Jags DC job and when their coach was fired he was the interim for 5 games. He then was retained as the DC and made assistant head coach. He left the next year to be the Bears DC. His last defense with the Jags did suck, but the defense was still bad 5 years after he left with multiple DCs. The Bears had just gone 10-6, so he didn't get hired on a crap team. Yes he was bad with the Bears defense too which ruined his NFL rep which I'm guessing is why he went back to college.

He got a job at Bama as DB coach and when Kirby went to UGA, he immediately followed as DC. In his 3 years there he had a top 6 and top 14 defense. He then went to Colorado as HC and then jumped at the Michigan St job.

Basically outside of going from an NFL DC to a DB coach at Bama, he kept getting promoted. This dude was fired once and was let go during a coaching change (everybody was), that's it.

This really gets you the LSU job when you are considered the top job available?

Michigan St having a nice season and will still likely finish unranked.

I don't understand why people are content with settling for this. Especially after wanting to get rid of a guy like O. If this is the route you want to go then I prefer Billy Napier.

And here comes the oblivious racist comment from you... You should be banned for that. We want someone like Aranda... how is this racist. STFU with that
so how many times have you completely ignored the bunches of people calling this a "woke", or affirmative action type of coaching search?

LSU doesn't need a defensive coach.

I disagree. What we need is a guy who is elite on one side of the ball. That way, only one of the coordinator positions has to be a home run.

That was the problem with O; you had to have two elite coordinators like we did in 2019.

Even with Les, he always brought the power run game to lean on.

Anytime there has to be excuses for failures and justifications for why someone could be a "decent" coach, they should never be a priority. The same crap happened when hiring Orgeron as head coach and even Ensminger as OC. No history of success for either, but somehow they were going to be great at LSU. The only case for Tucker would be if LSU becomes desperate.
