“That’s kind of a conversation that’s quietly been had over the last five, seven years. I’ve had that from a lot of the alumni. You look at the great traditional programs; the tenure of a coach that has had the great success that Bob has had has been remarkable. Especially as long as he’s been there.

"But it’s not only what you do during the season that matters. It’s how you finish the season in bowl games. And what we’re doing over the course of these seven to eight years is we’re getting embarrassed in the bowl games. It weighs heavily on the alumni, and it weighs heavily on the tradition, and it weighs heavily on us as players, because it’s just unacceptable going out there; I understand getting beat, but I don’t understand getting embarrassed. That just means the players are packing up the bags at the first sign of the avalanche starting to happen.”

He continued, explaining it wasn’t just Stoops but his entire staff:

“That comes from the coaching staff; not just Bob. That comes from all the coaching staff, energizing the players and letting them understand that the journey you’re on is going to define you who you are. So this small window of opportunity that you’re going to be here for four years, make that the strongest window you can, and don’t look at it like ‘this is a bridge that can get to the next level’ because the next level isn’t guaranteed for anybody.

"But I’d really like to see to see Oklahoma find and start to cultivate that next coach. Talking about that offensive coordinator that came in last year [Lincoln] Riley did a good job, but that’s only one year. We need to get the discipline back, the recruiting back, the strength of the recruiting back, the top notch guys to come in and take us to the next level.”

Stoops isn't the problem, playing in a pussy arse conference is.

And he's getting ripped, by the local media here. I don't think Stoops is an elite coach anymore, but he simply doesn't deserve to be fired. By the way, Billy Simms was asked about what Bosworth said, and he laughed about the comment of Stoops being fired. It's not happening, anytime soon.

I'm curious how he still got to stand on the sidelines after that nonsense.

No joke, it had to be awkward for the coaching staff. I know he and Vince Young did a commercial for the game this week, but that doesn't mean OU has to allow him, to be on the sidelines.

If I were stoops I would have asked he sit in the stands with the regular fans.

No joke. Imo, it's fine that people want excellence, and OU is one of the programs where the fans, and former players demand it, but it's not like OU has fallen off the face of the earth. On the other than, Brian Bosworth has always been vocal, so imo, he was the perfect "click bait" or attention drawing person to interview, so Fox Sports defiantly got what they wanted.

It would take a guy with a big set of balls to try to keep Boz off the sidelines

Boz is the last one that needs to lecture anyone about showing up in bowl games. Wasn't he suspended for his final one?

He made some good points but towards the end he showed himself to be like the narrow thinking fans. OU recruiting hasn't fallen off but the landscape has changed so much. The amount of effort and resources you have to put in to recruit at a school like OU or ND is a lot.

At some point they will probably be somewhere between Harvard/Yale (the extreme end of the spectrum) and Nebraska/Notre Dame (the realistic outcome).

It's proven that you don't need to go to those traditional powers located in Bumpkin country to win championships now.

Stoops is just starting the typical decline many very good but not great coaches have after being at a school. Examples: Miles and Fulmer
