The situation at Texas is nowhere near as bad as it was at Alabama pre-Saban.

Holy shite. Did Alabama have a giant SEC school 90 miles east of them? Did they have a ton of sex scandals? Did they have out of control boosters running their program into the ground? Did they have a huge lawsuit pending for racial discrimination?

You need to stop.

We were definitely a mess, but I think it's more like Tennessee. You've got a NC-winning HC that seems content to coast on their accomplishments while the competition around them is still busting arse. Tennessee forced out the fat frick and made 'the home run hire' with Kiffin. And then descended into mediocrity.
sounds like Les Miles

Alabama had NCAA sanctions. Texas doesn't.

I think it's cute you want to be like them, but trust me y'all came back from the dead because of Saban. Texas isn't.

Well Miss State is less than that far away, and Mike DuBose was banging his secretary, and boosters were being punished by the NCAA, but yeah...Alabama was a milk spill compared to Texas right now. Texas is going to have to make major concessions to get a big name coach.

Mike Shula had Alabama 9-0 and ranked #3. Let that sink in.

Yea, unless you were in a dumpster of a conference and recruiting directly against an SEC Ole Miss that is twice the size they are today, your comparison is irrelevant.

I remember when we use to say we are Alabama and we can get anybody and then we get a Dubose and a Price and a Fanchione and a Shula. It was a rough 18 years of being a BAMA fan.

I wonder if any anti-miles posters will read this.

Your posts make you seem like a petulant child. Alabama had NCAA sanctions, had a previous coach who used the university card to pay for prostitutes which led to his firing before he coached a game, another who had been fricking his secretary, and had players selling fighting pitbulls and massive amounts of cocaine out of his trunk. And they had lost to their in-state rival five years straight. Stop acting as if the Texas job would be a difficult place to win, you ignorant fricking count.

No, Texas is more like FSU during Bowden's final years there. If they find the right coach, they should be able to win immediately.

The Gumps are delusional if they think UT and Bama are/were in comparable situations.

Mack is horrible at evaluating talent. He has now missed on three straight Heisman winners, all of whom desperately wanted to play QB at Texas. eta - Links are Germans, but just re-iterating my point that he is horrible at evaluating talent. Jameis Winston's dream school was Texas Mack recruited RG3 and Johnny Manziel as DBs, didnt think they were good enough to play QB

Ut boosters are running the show there

This can't be stated enough. The good ole boy network running the show kept Mack afloat for the past 4 years. But their shite has gotten extremely irritating and I'm happy, but grateful for what they've done for Texas, that both Mack and Dodds are heading out the door. If Powers would have been replaced as well, then there would have been hope for Texas to reel in the boosters a bit.
