Terry bowden interviewing at ULM

I thought ULM football was broke a$$? So why is Terry Bowden interviewing, if ULM has the lowest paid coaches in FBS.

Bowden is only making 100,000 at Northern Alabama, wouldn't have to pay him much to get him a raise.

The University of North Alabama.
They've got more D-1 talent than ULM at this point, I think.

ULM AD Staub told The News-Star that Bowden has not been contacted regarding the job.

AD's always tell who they are talking to.
Many times they will talk to a Jimmy Sexton, but not a coach. FYI

Don't know it Terry is still the coach he used to be, but I would be all for this hire if possible. ULM needs someone with a recognizable name. In that article that is quoted earlier about the AD, he states that the new coach can't be just an Xs and Os guy, he's got to be a salesman for the program. Terry's name alone will open doors that many coaches couldn't. And with Bobby being retired, you would think he could make some public appearances around Monroe and the state on Terry's behalf. We'll see. By the way, I believe this would just be another stepping stone for Terry back to a major program. If that is his goal. I'd give him 3-4 years in Monroe if he has some success.

Salesman as in tickets sales? recruiting? public image?
a)Winning sells tickets...not some blowhard coach.
b)Top recruits don't go to ULM....period. ULM is bottom tier FBS and no matter how good of a recruiter the HC is, ULM will get the middle tier FBS leftovers at best.
So is the AD looking for a media-whore coach? Gimmick to boost attendance in the short-run, perhaps?
ULM was 5-3 in the sun belt, an improvement from last season. MTSU and Troy were clearly better. The ULL game was really the only game that ULM had no business losing.
This firing has baffled me somewhat.
