I agree. Texas is a top 3 NCAA job.
I think people are confusing complete control powers with NFL jobs. Control in NFL means you have full control of making the personnel decisions (draft, free agents, etc). Also control over contract offers etc.
None of that exists in college. Meddling by boosters is a separate issue but "control" is being overused imo when discussing the Texas job. I don't think boosters are making recruiting decisions but maybe I'm ignorant on that topic.

Laman I am pretty damn sure LSU persued Winston pretty hard. And JFF was not a headline grabbing recruit so post with some kind of knowledge other than open anti Miles BS. It gets old.

the u of tejas may be getting ready to find out the same thing Alabama found out post stallings and pre saban; they are pretty much just another job in tier one and many coaches are not interested (for a number of reasons).
they very well may have to "settle".
If Texas offers 5M+ for their new coach, they'll get a very good one. And, if they get a coach who is a good recruiter, they will be very good very quickly and a perennial contender.
My guess is that you are going to hold this Texas hire to a higher standard then every other hire. And, because of that, you will say that Texas wasn't able to get who they wanted.
