Greg Hudson...ECU

I like his style (more and more), and attitude and involvement.
His players are plying very hard for him....
and he has little talent with which to work.

This may be a good time to pick up young and upcoming DC that will stay for many years.

they just stopped Tulsa...
"the second highest passing scoring team in the nation"

This is a guy whose main area is
LINEBACKERS and the SECONDARY...besides being a DC

I do not want to continue to bring in NAMES that have a reputation made and no longer have the incentive to prove themselves.

Give me a good, young, aggressive hungry DC.
GREG HUDSON....
I do not know this guy, but look at what he is doing / what he has done.

If we want that attack minded, blitz heavy defense, we have to bring in either Chavis, Bumpas, or Tenuta.... Koenning, for all he's done for Clemson, is more of the same that we have seen in the past couple of seasons.... we have to get back to an intimitading, head hunting style that made us feared and respected....

I was not aware that Chavis blitzed a lot. If that is so, he doesn't seem to get enough publicity on this board compared to other blitz heavy cordinators (Muschamp, Tenuta).

Just to clear up a few mistakes "Someone" said about Greg Robinson, read this: LINK

Here's the impressive part:

quote:

The Chiefs’ defense finished last in the NFL a year ago but was thought to be significantly improved for this season.

quote:

But while the Chiefs raced to a 9-0 start and the offense finished No. 1 in the league in scoring and No. 2 in total offense, the defense was 29th overall and 30th against the run.

quote:

Fans booed continually during the loss to the Colts, who scored on six of their first seven possessions and never punted.

If I remember correctly the Colts never punted the whole game. Yeah, bring him here. He would have fit in nicely this year.

So your upset that a Dick Vermile team, usually dominated by defense and his awesome collection of players like Rookie Jared Allen, Scott Fujita, Fred Jones, Benny Sapp, Greg Wesley, Kawika Mitchell, John Browning and Eric Hicks couldn't stop Peyton Mannings record setting offense that year with Marvin Harrison, Dallas Clark, Reggie Wayne, Brandon Stokley and The Edge???

Considering that Indy and Denver only punted 54 times that year and only New England and Minn were even close to that number, I'd say the Colts offense was pretty good and one game is not determinative of how good or bad a coach is.

FWIW & IMHO

I think he's upset that Robinson's defense was 29th in scoring and last in total defense on a team ranked #1 in offense.

That's pretty hard to do in the NFL.

Its pretty disturbing you can't go unnoticed coaching defense on such a team. Yet, he was so bad, he was forced to fire him.

Unless he played against Peyton and that offense every game, I don't understand the difficulty in seeing just what a complete and epic failure GR was as their dc.

Just because they ATTACK and BLITZ is not the answer.
It is how they do it and how they cover as well..
About Clemson...
I remember their game against Alabama..great D

...lost 5 games this season...to me that's not what we need

seek intervention- lol

He chose our 2 co-idiots, did he not ?

Right now, IMO, the jury is still out as to Miles's judgment.
and I still would love to entertain the thought of Greg Hudson.

After reading resumes and projecting employees for over 35 years, I like what I read in his.

How about leaving the selection of the coaching staff to Miles?

I see a lot of mention of NFL experience in the candidates' profiles. Obviously there are some big plusses for that experience, but with the proliferation of the spread (especially the spread option) as opposed to traditional pro set offenses, would NFL experience necessarily translate successfully? I thought that the NFL was hesitant to embrace the spread option the way colleges have (not surprising with $40 million+ QBs). Would NFL defensive coaches have much experience stopping that kind of offense?

I'm asking because I don't watch or follow the NFL much, so there could be a dozen teams running the spread option and it's possible I could have missed it. Unlikely, but possible.
