It's Nick that is going. It will be announced a week after the SEC CG if Florida wins or dragged out until after the BCS CG if Alabama wins. Either way the gumps will be blind sided.

Stoops wants out of Norman. ND might get a 2 for 1if Arizona fires his brother as well (who was an awesome DC at OU.

ND is not going to wait to hire someone. Weiss will be fired and Stoops will be hired within 2 weeks, maybe earlier. OU is not playing in a conference CG so they might be able to get him quickly which is what they want.

The SEC CG is in a week not three weeks. Nick will be ready to leave if the tide losses and if they win the BCS CG he is gone to ND. Either way the gumps will be blind sided.

I told my dad last year I hope that the Tide would win the BCS CG so he could move on to ND. I just remember hearing something about Nick and ND when he was at LSU by a friend who knew LSU's Chaplin when Nick was at LSU. So call it a guess or wishful thinking if you want.

Sounds solid.

I find it odd his name is not even coming up in any serious discussions. When was the last time that happened?

He can turn around a program quickly (LSU, Alabama).

He can recruit nationally.

He has as solid a defensive scheme as there is in college and ND's defense was nothing short of horrible the last couple of years.

He is more than familiar with the area.

He is Catholic (silly, I know, but ND is ND).

I don't have any inside knowledge, but if I was the AD, I would at least put in a call to Sexton to gauge interest.

Saban

ND would be stupid to not at least offer.

Is Myer Catholic? That might be a big part of his decision.

ND would not be protecting their squeeky clean image by hiring the foul mouthed/blow up at any time Saban. Which is why they would never hire him. I would not be that surprised if Stoops is announced before the week is over.

Saban stays put but it would be foolish to think ND isn't at least kicking the idea around. It isn't like the guy has been beholden to any place he's ever coached.

Ranter, your name is appropriate for you. Stoops is buying his own coaching burial plot if he goes there. Same reason Saban would not go.

A moderator on the scout boards is reporting that Stoops is all but official. Btw I am from Oklahoma so I do here things that go around there. My brother is an OU alum and has lived in Norman right next to campus for about 15 years now.
