Stoops gets extension at FSU

You could be right but how do you that an offer was ever made to him? I read that his new contract provided for a $150,000 raise which would bump him to $650,000. We all heard that AU was offering at least 1 million. If an offer was made for that type of money, why would he stay at FSU for $650,000?

I'm just going on what one of FSU's Board of Trustee members said publicly in that he turned down more money to stay at FSU. Being that he is a guy actually close to the situation and was willing to state that openly, as opposed to all the "sources close to the situation", I'm just taking his word for it. Now how much Auburn was reportedly offering is still nothing more than speculation.

As far as why he would turn down that kind of raise, if he has another great year at FSU, he's gonna be gone for a HC position after '12 anyways which will bring a lot more money. Maybe he feels as though he it would take a couple years to turn around AU's defense which would slow down his timeframe to make the big bucks. Take a $650k this year to make $2 million next year, or take $1 million this year and may not get all the high interest if he doesn't have success at Auburn.

Seems like the safer and smarter route to me was what he chose...I just hate it was Auburn that allowed itself to apparently be the pawn in his chess game.
