Is there legit fire to all the smoke I'm reading about Mack allegedly "holding Texas hostage" and somehow delaying his announcement specifically in order to prevent Texas from hiring Saban?

Or is this just misguided silly speculation?

I'll hang up and listen.

From Bobby Burton:

At the meeting, Mack was told that it was his decision. Powers and Patterson expected him to offer resignation because of what they had been hearing from those close to him. This appears to have been a miscalculation, and Mack decided to stay. Powers thought that Mack might decide to resign anyway, but according to Bobby, Mack was set on coming back. Bobby writes that Chip Brown went "nuclear" and accused Powers of being in "cahoots" with Mack, which led to Powers hearing things from BMDs. Powers then scheduled a meeting with Mack yesterday around noon and made it clear he needed to step down. Bobby writes that Mack did not retire, but was forced out.

Yeah Mack was never leaving willingly. Seemed like the type who'd go 0-12 and still beg for another year.

Mack Brown is appearing to be a butt hurt old man. If Texas hires anyone but Saban now, Mack will always be remembered as the man that cock-blocked Nick Saban.

Honestly, I don't think anything so Machiavellian happened on either side.

I think the whole thing has been a comedy of errors on Texas's part. Ill-timed leaks, misinterpretation of subtext, miscommunication between parties, Mack's obstinance, you name it.

They fricked this up royally.

Yeah, something like that, basically.

We are going to conted with him there man, get a pair. LSU will beat their arse in TS next year. Their first year starting QB with throw 3 picks and LF will rush for 200 yards.
