Who tried his best to lose that freaking Oklahoma game. The defense won that game.
Mauck started more than one game. And yes, that defense was stellar, but you're displaying the same shallow thought process that permeates this board.

LSU was 6-1 in 2002 until Mauck got hurt. LSU was 13-1 in 2003 with Mauck. Jimbo can coach QBs. Booty and Davey were both All-SEC under Jimbo. Jimbo groomed JR and Flynn as well.

Amen, hiring Jimbo is a lateral move for LSU. I'd be totally pissed if we hired that loser. If we wanted to underperform and get lucky and have a killer season every ten years we could've just kept Miles.
The dumb is strong with this one.

Then who is better? Herman goes to Texas, what's left? Who do we get that's better than Jimbo? Just wondering who y'all think is the next best option?

OU had as good a defense as we did in 2003...if you think we should have steamrolled them, not sure what to tell you.

I like Jimbo, but his teams' tendency to fall behind early (sometimes big) and constantly have to come-from-behind concerns me. It's not just this year either, his FSU teams have a consistent history of doing so.

Another more Xs and Os-savvy poster recently said it's because Jimbo's initial offensive gameplan is very basic and conservative and it's not until they fall behind that they decide to open it up and use their weapons .., if thats true, after watching LSU under Miles that philosophy and approach on offense definitely concerns me.

That said, Jimbo would be an improvement over Miles. The big question that we may have to face down the road: Is Jimbo an improvement over O???

We shall see...

I'd be happy with Jimbo or Herman (or O if he wins the SEC).... I think Jimbo is more predictable than Herman... Lot of risk with Herman and his lack of experience , upside and downside.

Agreed. Going into the Big12 CG against KSU, the media narrative was OU being a contender for GOAT team.

Currently, O's resume compared Jimbo's is akin to a high school dropout to a PhD in nuclear physics.

this year

More like his last 12 games. Anyone not at lease a little taken a back by him going 7-5 in those games is asleep at the switch.

By the end of this year, Florida State could easily be unranked and have 4-5 loses. I will be interested in seeing how he fares against the first year head coach at Miami.

Lets take this one step further, shall we?
quote:

2016 W 45–34 vs Ole Miss
2015 W 27–2 vs Florida
2014 W 24–19 vs Florida
2013 W 37–7 vs Florida
2013 W 34–31 vs Auburn

LSU:
2015 W 35–28 vs Florida
2014 W 30–27 vs Florida
2013 W 17–6 vs Florida
2013 W 35–21 vs Auburn

2015: LSU was 9-3 & FSU was 10-3
2014: LSU was 8-5 & FSU was 13-1
2013: LSU was 10-3 & FSU was 14-0 MNC

I wouldn't say Jimbo was lucky, but it's not like he did anything that Miles didn't do with an antiquated offense.
