The best thing for us would be to hire an offensive guy that retains Chavis for short-term success. Transitioning schemes is not good. It took us two years before Chavis had everything in place, would hate to lose that now. Depends on the hire. A pelini would probably let him go.

If a new coach comes in and he is let go, he gets a lump sum of $1.4 million. I seriously don't see how he's getting messed over.

Chief ain't going to UM. If LSU can somehow get Mullen, they can just keep the Chief.

Even if it were to be Pelini(a mistake!), it would be redundant to have Pelini as a HC and keep Chavis as DC, it's overkill and a possible conflict of scheme?

And I agree, keeping some combo of Chavis, Johnson, Moffitt, Cooper, Gonzales,etc..is best suited for an offensive hire like Petersen, Mullen, Calhoun, etc..

And/or someone unfamiliar with the SEC's nuances as a coach to date in their careers.
