What are the Missippi State fans saying? Right now it looks very likely that the Bulldogs will lose to Bama and to a newly resurgent Ole Miss and Arkansas, and end up 3-9. They've only beat two I-A teams this year - Middle Tennessee and Vandy (barely).

He's basically got a streak of 3-8 seasons since he arrived in Starkville, broken up by last years insanely fluky winning season. Is he on a hot seat, or do the good vibes from 2007 buy him one more year?

They'll likely wait another year. They don't want to look like they're racists.

most the ones i know want him gone...they think last year was as good as they're ever going to get from him. i have to agree. i think it's a toss-up at this point whether or not he's fired.

my family is good friends though with their new (techincally interim at this point) president---and he says he won't be making a change.

Who the frick are they going to get to go to that shite hole? They should be thanking God himself that they were able to trick Croom into coming there.

Yeah no kidding - Croom got them to go from Terrible to Mediocre. Why risk going back to terrible so soon?

They may not go to a bowl game this year, but for the love of mankind give him another year. They would have to hire someone on the level of Saban, Tuberville, Miles, and Bobby P. I just don't see them spending that kind of money.

he should be fired after witnessing the LSU game, MSU COULD have won that game, he had all the Momentum and ran the clock out at the end of the half with over a min. left at their own 40 something.

Mediocre is like 6-6. The Bulldogs are way worse than that. These are Croom's results since he took over:

2004: 3-8
2005: 3-8
2006: 3-9
2007: 8-5
2008: 3-6 (and counting)

Sure, he gets a mulligan for '04 and '05. But even throwing out those two years, he's still well under .500 in his time in Starkville. More to the point, can you really look at MSU's roster and say "man, the talent level is really rising over there." I sure don't think so.

There's still a lot of football left to be played. But if the Bulldogs go 0-3 and finish yet another year at 3-9, I don't see how you can justify keeping him around.

That, and MSU is way behind in the arms race of the SEC. Facilities are subpar, Starkville is terrible, and recruits don't see them breaking through to the top of the West. MSU can continue to pull the recruits that are high level CUSA, Sun Belt, and some Miss recruits. They will never be able to get the big guys from the big SEC schools.

Not with the new AD Greg Byrne. He told the legend in Ron Polk to get the hell outta here. You think he won't fire Croom? I think not. Croom is Croomed.

Okay, but with coaching openings at Tennessee, Syracuse, and Washington this year who are you going to get that is better than Croom for the money? I think programs need to be realistic about who their options are.

Nobody in their right mind would choose Mrs. State over programs with openings in BCS conferences. It's not like they are going to back up the truck for a Saban type.

I think he has an extremely hot seat. But, it won't matter this year. I think the best we get is a new/different OC. We will have either an Interim President or by Dec/Jan possibly a brand new one. Can't imagine the first thing he wants to do is sign off on the firing of the head football coach. Byrne seems to have a quick draw and appears pretty fearless in his dealings with folks there but not sure he is big enough yet to pull this off. Then there is the matter of the $3M buyout. I say Croom gets at least another year and he may very well get to pick his own departure date.

Yep, he'll get another year because of his skin color. I guess the grand social experiment will go on one more season and just temporarily put off the impending visit/protest from Jesse and Al after he does get fired..........

I sure hope so. I really like Sly, the person and hope he succeeds. With that said, he won't at MSU. Let him go somewhere else-- Anywhere else.

He started to recruit a few thugs, so maybe with another year, he can start putting on a couple of W's. Shame it has to be that way, but if you want to win...

I went through and looked at the teams he has beaten and there are some decent wins in there but mainly a bunch of weak wins with a few pretty bad losses.

Wins (20): Tulane (3), Florida, Kentucky (2), Murray St, Ole Miss (2), UAB (2), Jacksonville St, Bama (2), Auburn, Gardner-Webb, Central Florida, SE Louisiana, Vandy, Middle Tenn. St.

L: Maine, UAB, Houston, Tulane

SEC record 9-28

I know everybody likes him but it's pretty easy to like a guy that you beat every year, which explains why I don't like him
