Since We’re Throwing Out Names for Defensive Coordinator post-Freeman ...

The Rams stand a good chance to be eliminated today at Seattle.
Hell, make a run at Rams DC Brandon Staley. You know he’s a defensive wunderkind since McVay is strictly offense.
NFL assistants’ salaries are not publicized but McVay makes about 2M per year. My guess is Staley doesn’t make quite half that.
Get on the phone and Woodward and O can fly out to LA if necessary. Offer him the same 2.5 you paid Pelini. Sure he may be around for only a couple years before he’s an NFL HC but we were okay with Freeman being a short timer if it brought us a championship.
The money LSU can offer makes them a credible suitor for any potential O/D coordinator. At this stage, what do we have to lose?

He’s in the Joe Brady zone. He’s about to be an NFL HC, he’s not going to be a college DC

Why would you leave the NFL and have to recruit? It's not even a lateral move.

McVay makes $8.5 million a year. He coached them to a Super Bowl and you really think he’s making $2 million? His initial contract was for $4 million, then he got a raise.

Its crazy to think that NFL HCs make less than top CFB Coordinators
