*** This is NOT a suggestion for the HC position ***

What do you prefer to see from a HC on the sideline during a game? Do you want someone engaged with the players and showing enthusiasm like BYU’s Kalani Sitake or even Dabo Swinney?

Or do you want a stoic coach with the headset that leaves the player interaction to the lower level coaches? Examples here would be Saban and Jimbo.

Either one can produce results (don’t let using Saban as an example unfairly tilt your opinion, he was just the easiest example). The players probably prefer the engaged coach while the media seems to prefer the stoic coach.

What do you like as a fan?

I prefer a coach who can read the vibe of his team and be what his team needs.

But given the choice between one or the other, I like the engaged coach.

I prefer the one that wins the most football games. My coach can be ripping lines of coke on the sidelines for all I care.

Saban, known for his calm demeanor in the sideline.
