Should the quietness of Michigan's search for the next HC

concern us? I haven't heard anything lately and makes me wonder if this is all smoke and mirrors until the NC game is over with.
Not trying to start any rumors here...just curious.

About as much as the "quietness" of the Arkansas search. You are looking at two programs who have screwed up royally in their respective coaching searches and are desperately trying to save face behind the scenes.

yes and no
Michigan according to Bob Griese "is not accustomed to searching for HC's! It's all new to them."

Then you're not listening to the right outlets.
Mike and Mike this morning mentioned that the Michigan AD said that he has a list of 20 candidates.
Doesnt really help the situation with all the 'speculation', but its something - and it came from a usually reliable source. For the AD to admit that there are 20 candiates I dont think is 'havn't heard anything lately' worthy..

Always a smart arse in the group...I don't give a flying f_ _k if you think my comment is worthy or not.
Obviously, I didn't listen to Mike and Mike...also didn't know ESPN and Mike and Mike was the gospel. We all know their info is always 100% correct.

You shouldn't be concerned about the future of Les Miles at LSU. Perhaps reading this article will help you understand the behind-the-scenes stuff that probably went on before the events of Dec. 1 unfolded. However, nothing in life is guaranteed except death. Could Les still end up at UM? Yeah, it's a possibility. With that said, you should chill about it because it's out of your/my/anyone's control ('cept for the decision makers directly involved)
When Les needed an answer, where was U-M's athletic director

Saying "there is a list of 20 candidates" is a general statement made to give the appearance of a search, when there really is no search going on.

20 candidates is far too many for that caliber of job. Either they are full of it or the search has gotten so out of hand that they are grasping at every straw out there.

Two things about the search. One even the Det/AA media admit that they don't have a source inside the search. Only that they have Mich sources that have opinions. Two, Bill Martin said the search was going underground, before it even started with Les Miles. I think that it has.
As to the twenty names, no one has seen the list. Not one person has reported seeing the list. A list of 20 is what Bill Martin has said. However, that was before the advisory committee meeting, so it may have just been the pool from which to target, not to interview.
Now, why interview all these seemingly no consequence guys? Well some are or have been at Mich before. It might just be to burnish their images with their current schools or schools interested in hiring them. That would be a very Mich/Lloyd thing to do. They are not going to hire them, but maybe if Mich looks at them other schools might think well of them.
Also, they need to do something public to keep the hounds at bay. Fans, former players, alums, media are relentless in wanting to know what is going on. This gives them something to chew on, albeit most of it is unrealistic, while Mich does what it needs to do.
Martin was in Florida over the weekend. Sailing? Some say he was hosting big donor alums for the new football facility upgrades/luxury boxes. Then he was confirmed to be in NYC at the College Football Hall of Fame Induction banquet. Funny no reports on who he was seen having cocktails with at that event.

I hope Bill Martin pulls a rabbit out of his hat after Saturday.
