Serious question - Did Miles leave LSU

better than he found it?
The first back-to-back 10 win seasons in school history. Now back-to-back-to-back.
Tied with Richt for the most wins in a coach's first 3 years in SEC history.
Two top 5 finishes, with a good chance at a third.
Excellent recruiting (until arguably this year) with probably the best class in LSU history last year.
No national titles.
No SEC titles (yet).

Hard to say, some clear facts both ways.

Hard to say right now. I think he enherited a lot of talent to win. LSU is losing a lot of talent this year, so if our talent is not as good next year I say no. It comes down to talent on the field and many think next year will be a rebuilding year for 2009.

You can't win,Saban out right lied and he is a sorry SOB.Miles will not comment and he is a SOB.You can't win this issue.Like the post I just read WE ARE LSU AND WE WILL MOVE ON WITHOUT THEM.

talent wise yes he did.
and since every coach thinks Miles is an idiot and he won here its made this a more attractive job then it was post Saban

I think he did, and ironically, I think it's partly because of the perception that he's an idiot.
Les just basically showed that a chimp (the perception) can come to LSU and win 10+ games.
Now everyone's talking about what a great job it is. I didn't hear any of that when Saban left.
Right now the concensus seems to be that LSU is an easy place to be successful.

Miles gets a solid B. He kept our cupboards stocked, got us 10 wins, and put us in position to be ranked top 5 at end of season each year.
on the flip side he could have lost about 5 games every season without an insane amount of luck, he hasn't yet won an SEC title, we underachieved this season, and his coaching search interfered with our title run.
I don't dislike Miles but I'm glad he's going. We need somebody who loves LSU.

Wow, Big J. You beat me to the punch. I think it's a valid point.

Yes, he did. Right or wrong, I'm convinced when Saban left, it was time for him to go. And Les was the right guy at the right time.
So, yeah, I think had Saban stayed, I think LSU wouldn't have had 3 10 win seasons the past 3 years.
And I'm glad Miles didn't listen to the fans. He gave himself a chance.

Exactly. He was good, but not great. I was indifferent on him leaving or staying, but I'm a little pissed about his timing.
Now it all depends on whether the administration can get a coach worthy of an increasingly brutal SEC West, or whether we wind up with a goober we never heard of-again.
