Not really. He is super close to retirement and has it made. No sense in the move.

So you are telling me Paul Bryant Jr is flying him in his jet to Austin? The Bear's son is facilitating Saban's move to Texas?

If Saban is paying 40% then his CPA should be fired immediately.
Ah, almost all of a $5.6M salary would be in the upper tax bracket. He is at least 38%+. In Texas he will actually get to keep 4% more of his money, as there is no state income tax in Texas.

How much more would property tax be?
Posted on 12/9/13 at 12:56 pm to Tigerpaw123
Property tax on a say $5M home would approach $100K.
4% state income tax savings on a $9+M salary would approach $400K.
Don't think guys in this bracket don't look at a $300K a year savings. Just simple math bro.

I don't really know any more and I've said all that I can possibly say publicly, so I, like everyone else, am just waiting to see where it ends up. There have been reports that it's already signed, but I can't vouch for them, whereas the news which rattled me came from a source very close to him personally. So, IDK...

This is the guy who first reported Saban and Bama reached a new agreement. He retracted that and this was his explanation.

Reports that "it's already signed" - what's that, the extension with Bama? That means nothing without a buyout from Saban's end - that just protects him from being fired by Bama.
The "close" personal source leaking information doesn't sound very promising, either, as I would suspect that Saban and Sexton have been keeping that pretty close to the vest. Clearly there's smoke here, but how much and how far along Texas and Sexton truly are remain to be seen.

the reports its already been signed are from people taking the recent news stories about them "agreeing on principle" and twisting it around, they mean just as much as the reports of him definitely going to texas do.
