Do you understand how business works in this country?
Read up on how Larry Bird ended his tenure with the Celtics. You'd be surprised how loyalty affects some people.

Just more rumors. Apparently, Saban had gotten involved with LSU and Bama boosters with investments that have apparently gone south. Like $10M south.
Not according to the Harris County Clerk of Court.
Go ahead and click here to search for Nicholas L Saban.

You think he invested under his name and not a business name he set up?

Absolutely the investment was made under a LP, but he also has a personal guarantee on the debt. If it was just an LP or LLC, screw it, default, go bankrupt and be protected by the corporate veil. Personal guarantees are a whole other matter.

How'd you like to make $5.6MM a year, retire and then be broke? That doesn't happen if a UT Booster buys the debt.

I'll just leave this here.

There's an apartment complex in Houston (Watermarke Apartments) that's under water. Your pal Nick Saban is 49.5% owner of AND he is PERSONAL guarantor on the note. He currently pays interest only so the note won't default. If the note defaults that's a $25MM judgement against him.
Saban can't be this fricking stupid. Who in their right mind would get involved in an investment with this kind of individual exposure without doing it through a the protection of a corporation?

No it's not.

Defendants Perkins Rowe Associates, LLC, Perkins Rowe Associates II, LLC, Perkins Rows Block A Condominiums, LLC, and Joseph T. Spinosa (hereafter, collectively the "Perkins Rowe defendants") and defendant Central Facilities, LLC, moved to quash the subpoena issued by the plaintiff to Nicholas L. "Nick" Saban. The subpoena sought production of documents relating to: (1) loans, including repayment, between defendant Central Facilities and Saban; (2) investment by Saban in defendant Central Facilities and Central Facilities Operating Company, L.L.C. (hereafter "CF Operating"); (3) ownership in defendant Central Facilities or CF Operating by Saban; (4) distributions or payments by defendant Central Facilities and any affiliate to Saban; (5) distributions or payments by any Borrower to Saban; (6) distributions or payments by defendant Spinosa to Saban; (7) loans between any Borrower and Saban, including repayment; (8) loans between defendant Spinosa and Saban, including repayment; (9) investment by Saban in any Borrower; (10) minutes of any meeting of defendant Central Facilities; and (11) materials distributed at any meeting of the members of Central Facilities.
When Spinosa declared bankruptcy the bank went after Saban. This isn't rumor, its public record.

That's a whole other mess he's in, but I hear you. Thankfully I'm not an attorney.

The better question to ask is who in their right mind (besides Nick Saban) would do business with Tommy Spinosa?

Well I don't know who Tommy Spinosa is but I wouldn't get involved in anything with that type of personal exposure, I don't care if my mother, Bill Gates or Jesus was my partner.

Nick has made lots of risky business decisions
it's why he was 40 million in the hole

Gossip is the truth. Rumor is not. That's what I meant. We're on the same page.

Cowherd is a blow herd. Bill battle, the AD at bama, is a very astute businessman. I believe with my business acumen, which by the way has made a a tidy sum, that Battle knows best.
It comes down to this IMHO.
1. Battle knows the financial impact of resigning Saban and conversely, the impact if not signed.
2. This is arguably Saban's last large contract before he heads off to football heaven.
3. Texas is still smarting from 2010 title game and like the pretty girl who everyone wants, Texas thinks Saban is the pretty girl that can make them sexy again.
4. If this is all about Saban getting the most money in his last contract, then the NFL must be considered a viable option for no college, Texas or Alabama could match a Jerry Jones etc.
5. Saban is anti social and the Texas job would be a very social event. At Bama, he goes to work, goes home and does a weekly one hour radio show and largely is left alone.
6. Saban is from small town West Virginia. He could care less about the hipness of Austin.
7. T-town has a nice corporate airport. Ms. Terry can hop on a private jet anytime and fly to NY or wherever to shop. Going to Austin for someone with their money is a yawn.
Finally, if Saban leaves Alabama for money, it won't be to Texas, it will be the NFL. If Saban stays at Bama! it will be because he loves it there and his wife does as well.
Saban and Sexton are using Texas like a cheap whore.

If you are simply quoting a listing of defendants in a lawsuit, then this is not proof of anything about a personal guaranty from or collection efforts from Saban, or much of anything, really. It simply shows that he is a named defendant, which is nothing anyone here did not already know. There may be a public record out there of what took place after suit was filed, but this ain't it.
