People are acting like Riley is some failure as a coach. The guy is legit he’s dominated a whole conference for how many years? With how many different QBs that by the way each had completely different styles. The guy is as good as it gets. He would turn Max or Nuss into a top 5 QB by the first year.

What has DA shown you for you to believe that? Some of you get so emotional over these searches and that shouldn't play a role in it. Aranda is not a god, he is a second year HC at Baylor University who has won some games he shouldn't have won and lost a game he shouldn't have lost.

I want Aranda because his defense gets after it. I want Riley because his offense gets after it. Either one will do.

Listen, I would love Aranda as the 1b option if Riley falls through. But with the coaching data we have, you cannot stand in front of me with a straight face and say definitively that Dave would be a better HC.

- Don't let emotions play into this one, folks.

In year 2 at a lesser program Aranda has defeated Riley head to head and is currently ranked higher.

It's early, but right now Aranda is trending in the right direction.

This season Riley hasn't beaten a ranked team yet. His signature win is a come from behind win over 4-6 Texas.

Are you really questioning DA’s intelligence and attention to detail? But let’s see:
1. DA’s defenses have dominated Riley’s O.
2. With inferior players, DA’s defense absolutely destroyed Riley’s O in their last game.
3. DA has shown he understands the offense portion of the game, hence the new OC this year.
4. Riley has dominated in a weak defensive conference, but gets destroyed in playoffs. He has never shown he can get a good DC, or manage the defense side of equation.
5. Dave kicked a field goal in a game already won; Riley bitched about it.

There is nothing emotional about my belief that Aranda has more upside. I could be wrong. But I think Dave Aranda could be something very special in the right program—like LSU.

Riley is 1-3 in bowl games and 0-3 in the college football playoff. So again, I will say, he is not good in the big games. Running through a smaller, down Big 12....it is what it is....but meeting a big school in a big game he loses. His only bowl win was against an 8-4 Florida in the Cotton Bowl.

Aranda is newer to head coaching but Riley consistently has a let down game.
And knowing the LSU fanbase if he were 0-3 in playoffs and 1-3 in bowl games, fans would asking for him to be fired.

I came to that conclusion from you posting this..

but if you look objectively Riley is the more proven commodity. Dave just hasn't had enough time to build his resume, unfortunately

I part of your post you don't want Aranda because
1. Riley more proven
2. Aranda hasn't had enough time....

Then you say Aranda will be great "somewhere"....then why not great at LSU...now.

Everyone putting Riley on a pedestal. Why? His defenses have sucked. He in in his 5th year at OU. No title.

Saban won one in 4 years, Miles in 3 and shrimp boat cap'n in 2 (as head coach).

Can you refresh my memory where did these 3 coaches win their national titles so quickly? At which school?

If it's the school, then why fret over a coach?

I would prefer a QB guru HC and never ever have to worry about QB or the offense. Not have to worry about installing a new offense when an OC leaves. I feel LSU can always attract elite defensive players. I would rather Riley, because on his name alone I think recruiting would be insane. I like Aranda though.

You stated pretty much exactly how I feel.

I like them both, but I’d personally rather a potential offensive genius such as Riley running the program who can consistently pull top ranked QBs and have them winning Heismans. I think that’s more important and valuable in this age and the ability to score high level.

I’d rather know we can score and average 40-50 a game. If we are capable of doing that, then we can get a solid enough defense to back them up here. Defensive talent will always be there. We just need to find a solid enough DC, even if they only last a few years at a time before moving on.

I definitely lean Riley over Aranda. I prefer getting back to 2019 level offense … but also for it to be consistent year in and year out moving forward.
