A&M has been through how many coaches since 2001?

You think job security is all about how well the previous coaches did? Alabama went through how many coaches from 1997-2007? You're right, it has nothing to do with the team's relationship with the coach. Wait, Jimmy Johnson won how many Super Bowls before he got forced out of Dallas?

This is all a moot discussion anyways since there's no way Richt is coming to A&M, but that's a real dumb comment.

and the rumors on DR say 7 years, $4.5M

A poster on the Vent said that he completely made that up and posted it on an aTm to see how long it would take to sprout legs. Looks like the DR has already picked it up and ran with it.

Hey A&M, figure it out.

LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas aren't getting any worse in the near future. What proven coach wants to take that battle on? Heck, Urban Meyer tucked tail and ran and he wasn't even in the West.

Ouch, but it makes sense. Rumor was we offered him a 5 yr, $4.25M/yr deal and knowing Byrne it was probably fully guaranteed.

i can't see UGA offering him over $4M. we have the cash but what has he done to earn it? this year was nice and all but not worth a HUGE raise and extension

he deserves $3.8M max with an easy buy out

There are some people who don't go through this world trying to find the path of least resistance, imagine that.

so ags, flaming aside i read on DR that they all think Richt, Petersen, or Kelly would be a home run hire? what do sane ags think? how in fricks name is richt considered on their level?

and it does make me laugh that i have been shitting on him for 2 years and A&M is salivating over the idea of him. i guess i should be a little nicer

Hey man, when the best news you've gotten from A&M in the last 15 years was that you were graduating you'd understand.

i guess

fwiw i think richt is a good coach and maybe a change of scenery would do everyone off better, but if he left us now we'd be leaderless for our bowl, our recruiting class would crumble, we'd have transfers, pissed off fans, pissed off boosters, and no time for a real good hire that we need in order to keep the program going

we have a good enough team that a coach could come in and have instant success but it would need to be a good coach. if someone told me this was all real and Richt would leave but UGA would be guaranteed either Patterson or Petersen then i'd help pack the man's bags but this late in the process, idk man

Oh wow. They are going to be in for a huge let down in that case when they finally hire a coach.

they are already melting down. they are slowly but surely seeing richt isn't leaving, petersen won't come, and they know kelly won't come

this is sumlin's job but i don't blame A&M for perusing

I think Petersen is THE home run hire. Anyone salivating over Richt is just rabidly opposed to Sumlin for whatever reason.

Per McGarity....aTm would have to ask for permission to talk to CMR....Prolly could talk to his agent but the BS about face to face with CMR this week is just BS...

quote:

As for the Texas A&M rumors, McGarity said he had not been contacted by Aggies athletic director Bill Byrne and would have been if A&M were pursuing his coach. “You don’t waste your time on [rumors] that have no legs,” said McGarity, who added that he has zero doubt Richt will be Georgia’s coach next season and beyond. “We just know Mark is going to be our ‘ball coach,” McGarity said.
