Reports from Arkansas shock Tuberville
Posted by Phillip Marshall, The Huntsville Times November 30, 2007 8:43 AM
Categories: Football
Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville was sitting on a deer stand in rural Arkansas early this morning. Cell phones, of course, work even in deer stands if they're not too far out in the sticks.

Tuberville, who will be back in Auburn around lunchtime today, said he was incredulous when he learned after emerging from the woods Thursday night of the reports flooding out of Arkansas that he was on the verge of agreeing to become the Razorbacks' coach.

Tuberville didn't want to be quoted, but he had some strong words for those responsible for those reports. Neither he nor his agent, Jimmy Sexton, Tuberville said, has had any contact at all with Arkansas officials about the job vacated by Houston Nutt.

By the way, he and assistants Eddie Gran and Steve Ensminger were planning to hunt ducks but ended up hunting deer. Gran bagged a deer. The other two have struck out so far.

He's going to be even more shocked when he is announced new coach around the same time of the SEC championship game.

For those of you who do not understand public/interview speak, let me interpret:

The deal is almost done, I'm trying to squeeze them for another 1/2 mil.

First mention I hear of Steve Ensminger, former LSU QB. Is he that tight with Tommy Tubberville that he wouldn't come home to Mama?

I just got a call from a friend in England who told me the corpse of Ronald Reagan is going to be the new head coach of Manchester United. Damn, there is some weird coaching shite going on.

Just got a text from my source in Kabul. Not only is he well connected and clairvoyant but he knows Tubberville and Spurrier who often snow ski in the Hindu Kush. They will get in a duck egg fight and the winner comes to LSU. The loser goes to Arkansas.
