No matter what Miles' intentions are regarding his OC position, the last thing he is going to do is express them, or even hint at them, in a press interview. You'll know what he's doing when he does it, not before. And trying to read between the lines and then going on a rant based on what you think you see there is moronic. He will always do what he thinks is best for the program, and to the extent consistent with that he will do what is best for his guys. That means not damaging their careers or job prospects and not throwing anyone overboard until (i) he knows he has a better replacement and (ii) the departing staff member has had an opportunity to take care of his situation. I hope it's what you would do for a valued senior subordinate who had given a portion of his career to your organization, and I'm sure it's what you'd want your employer to do if he (or she) had decided to make a change in your position. So please, back off.

amen.

I honestly don't think there's a single coach in this country that would talk shite about one of their coordinators in public, even if they were going to have to fire them in the end.

well didn't Miles release the two defensive coordinators and go after Chavis right around this time in 2008?

Sounds right. And until the 2 DCs had been given a chance to line up other things (or at least get that process pretty far advanced) Miles had their backs.

I thought it was after, or right around the bowl game, so later in December.

ALSO,

Somebody is falling behind on Wikipedia for John Chavis. I went to see when he was hired and all his pictures are from UT and the only thing in the LSU section reads:

On 29 December 2008 at approximately 9:50am CT, LSU website TigerDroppings.com reported that a deal had been done with Chavis to become the new defensive coordinator for the LSU Tigers.

Seems like a PC way for Crowton to tell ULL he's not interested, nothing more. No way LSU/Miles' would give GC a heads up before the bowl game. A disaster in a bowl can/will affect talent levels.

well, we don't know if this is true, but ASSUMING LSU asked crowton to remove his name from ULL consideration, i don't get it
