What's the consensus on how everyone feels about the hire? I'm about a 6.5-7 out of 10 on it. Overall fairly happy. Not that my opinion should be taken with any weight

nope. you're too positive about it. if you were about a 2.5-2 you're opinion would be weighted accordingly

My opinion is, as I've stated elsewhere: ABC

Your opinion is about the norm, I'd say. Most are "cautiously optimistic/just happy gary is gone/anyone but crowton/wouldn't care if miles hired an apple tree."

I don't pretend to know much of anything when it comes to assistants. There are so many variables that go into these things that I am not privy to, I really am not qualified to make any sort of educated judgements just yet. But the fan in me is not all that fired up. But I'll still be really optimistic.

an apple tree probably wouldn't throw a screen to ridley 7 yards in the backfield on 3 and 20 from the 50 when you need 15 yards for a realistic game-winning FG attempt.

Well, he can't be any worse than Crowton and he is a pro-style coach. I hope this works out.

Stubbs, Miles, Billy, and Stud will get together, roast a pig and talk foosball while Frank Wilson does all the recruiting and shite.

Miles' statement didn't mention recruiting and it's usually one of the things he's big on when talking up hires. May or may not be telling on what he'll bring from that standpoint.

It can be worse than Crowton.

Gary Crowton (Total offense)

2005 Oregon OC #22
2006 Oregon OC #13
2007 LSU OC #9
2008 LSU OC #51
2009 LSU OC #102
2010 LSU OC #81

vs.

Steve Kragthorpe (Total offense)
1998 Texas A&M OC #91
1999 Texas A&M OC #58
2000 Texas A&M OC #49
2003 Tulsa HC #51
2004 Tulsa HC #73
2005 Tulsa HC #39
2006 Tulsa HC #24
2007 Louisville HC #6
2008 Louisville HC #45
2009 Louisville HC #91

10 years each.

Gary Crowton, average rank in total offense: 49th
Steve Kragthorpe, average rank in total offense: 53rd

Everyone knows if you are a bad head coach, then you are also a bad coordinator, Gregg Williams is a prime example. Dick Lebeau another. Cam Cameron another.

what if you're a mediocre coordinator?

how do you know he'll be mediocre?

FWIW, I don't think its a slam dunk he'll succeed here, but he should be given a fair chance. None of us got to interview him and he had improving offenses as an OC.

I don't, that's what his history shows; it doesn't point to him being great. How will everyone feel if it takes three yrs for him to get LSU's offense in the top 50?

If it takes 3 years but it happens, then I can deal with that. But lets also remember he's never had this kind of talent.

I am like you..sometime in your life you realize they know more than you. If you look at our record since Miles came into town it looks like he knows more than a Shite pot full of people
