No accusations, just questions. Perhaps this has already been discussed; if so, I missed it.
Why was it politically unfeasible to fire Miles, pay his buyout, and hire Fisher -- in Nov. 2015, but, it was feasible to fire him a few games into the 2016 season? Was Miles' buyout that much less in 2016, than 2015? Honestly asking; IDK.
Consider as a possibility; this was never about money. (Hell, LSU has one of the highest paid staffs, and lately pays buyouts like candy.). It was about hiring a specific person. Orgeron was surely not a viable HC candidate in Nov. 2015. He was a position coach. The only way he could become a viable candidate would be to serve as an interim coach for a period of time, and arguably "earn it" on merit.
When Miles was fired in 2016, he was awfully prepared to assume interim HC duties(it was almost as if he had been preparing for it, for some time.) I have no problem with his lobbying for the permanent HC job, when by circumstance (?) he "found" himself in the position of interim HC.
No, my question is, was a deliberate effort begun in Nov. 2015 that would ultimately lead to his getting the HC job? Yeah, I know, crazy conspiracy theory, right? Such a plan would've required help from connected folks, who could affect the all-important timing of Miles' firing.

Orgeron had known he was going to be the interim head coach for several weeks LSU would be idiots not to have informed him that he would be the interim if Miles was fired so he could make a plan.

The only part I would venture a comment on is this. I'm sure Ed knew Les was on a short leash after '15 and that he could be fired in-season during '16.
Ed also had HC and interim-HC experience. Other than Cam, did anyone else? IOW, of those remaining he was considered best qualified for the interim role.

Coach O for close to a year back stabbed Les miles and was in Joe alleva ear about how he would be a good candidate for the job.
They even hung out and did some fishing together. Getting this job was coach o lottery ticket.

Oregeron deffinitly had sights on Les's job from day 1 he was hired. And by the time he was hired Alleva was ready to move on from Miles.

Is this your opinion or do you know of concrete instances?

My best guess is that the price tag was higher for Fisher for LSU in 2015 than it was for Aggie this year. That's the only thing that makes sense other than Jimbo not wanting to leave FSU at the time.

coach O was taking hunting and fishing trips with alleva the year Les was fired.. something isn't right with that picture.

I'm bumping my own thread, which is marginally lame I realize, but, I was floored by DALSU's responses. Did I miss something and is it generally known that Coach O backstabbed Les Miles to get the job?
I will say, though, that DALSU's info about O and Joe going on trips together doesn't really fit what I thought might've occurred. As I said in the original post, O wasn't going to get the job at the end of 2015... so it was actually in his best interest that Miles be retained then, and then fired mid-season to allow an interim coaching opportunity for O.
Alleva (at least from the "reports" I read on here ... yeah, I know...) was engaged in discussions w/ Fisher's reps. and was trying to get approval to fire/buyout Miles and hire Fisher, in 2015. So, if that's all true, I don't see where he taking trips with O would've mattered. On the other hand, I guess what I was implying might be the case is that O had higher connections than Alleva who orchestrated the circumstances under which O could serve as interim coach and then get the permanent gig.

If i'm not mistaken, LSU does not pay Orgeron, LSU likely pays Rosey Finch Boyz LLC.
Look for a connection between RFB and Alleva (include family members, don't forget maiden names)
Is payment split between more than one LLC ?
Happy hunting
