Pro Coaches Transitioning to College

Just doesn't see many do it successfully. Pete Carroll is one of the few. Lane Kiffin flopped as a head coach. Wanstedt wasn't good. Lovie Smith is tanking. Are there any coaching now that could make a successful transition? Jack Del Rio or Gary Kubiak perhaps?

Gene Stallings worked out. Bill Arnsparger, too.

I wouldn't judge Lovie too harshly yet either. He didn't get hired until March and that whole program was in shambles, on and off the field.

The only one I can think of is Gene Stallings. Yes, he had some experience as a college coach at Texas A&M but he had been away from the college game for 19 years when Bama hired him in 1990.
