He’s cursed by inflated recruiting rankings. Look at before and after commitment rankings. for a lot of their guys. They got some studs for sure, but they aren’t stacked with depth like those recruiting rankings show. Next year is their best bet before their FB/QB runs out of eligibility.

Yup and that’s why 2020 will be very interesting for Texas and Herman...

The good news: they should be good

The bad news: What if they’re not?

Herman made a mistake bringing his Houston boys. He’ll have to clean house and hire true P5 coaches.

Which is going to hurt recruiting for a bit and possibly be the beginning of the end for Herman if they don’t win 9+ in 2020. I’ll go on record now: if Herman goes 8-4 or worse in 2020, he will be fired.

In his defense I do believe he has stabilized the program overall And laid some groundwork for the next hire to have success, but i don’t believe Herman has the ability to get Texas to the level they expect, which is a consistent 10+ win program year-in-year-out.

He will hold on beyond 2020. He’ll do just enough.

By my quick count, Texas has played in 15 one score games the last two seasons. They are 10-5 in those games.

That’s a lot of close games, and one reason why it’s hard to gauge the current state of the program and Herman’s future.

On one hand they’ve played well against OU, UGA, and LSU, and have won a couple of those games.

On the other hand, they’ve struggled in a lot of other games against teams that were average at best.

Everything is set up in 2020 for Herman’s 4th season at Texas. OU and LSU will be the only big challenges, but UT will have the advantage at QB.

Expectations will be sky high entering next season. The O/U could be as high as 10.5 games. It’s possible Texas makes the playoff, but it’s also possible Herman’s ceiling at Texas is 9-3.

What if Ehlinger leaves for the XFL, or transfers to OU?

Is theXFL a possibility? I haven’t heard that.

I doubt very seriously the OU thing could happen with him, he’s all UT through and through from what I know.

Ehlinger is a sip douchebag. He’s transferring nowhere. Now the rest of the team is a different matter

He will get rid of Orlando and go after somebody like the chief at Arkansas. That will buy him another year or so

Hes not hiring the fricking chief. Or i swear to god im done with texas.

Anyways the point i was making was 4 people have entered the transfer Portal. Brandon eagles decided to miss practice one day to talk to family about transferring. I think the number is 7 decommitments in the 2020 class.

I’m surprised IowaSt is -7 today... I’ve got Texas ML on one of my parlays.

I expect Texas to win today. Because if they don’t win I also expect the temperature on Herman’s arse to begin rising exponentially the next couple weeks.

ETA: guy above is joking about The Chief. We all know The Chief is done with major CFB. A&M was his “retirement payday.” No idea why Arky hired him, because he’s just coasting into retirement now. Hell I think he already has retired in his own head, but people keep trying to pay him.

If Herman is as smart as he thinks he is, he’ll throw bank at Dave Aranda.

I think Aranda has a 7-8M buyout

Awful day so far for Texas, specifically their offense.

Still a good ways to go in this one, but if this holds up the heat is about to be turned up on Tom. I sincerely just can’t understand why he’s such an awful gameday coach.

Texas trying to come back now and just took the lead, should be an exciting final few minutes

“Winning is really, really hard.”

Am I a terrible person for loving seeing CFB’s biggest a-hole struggle?
