Please tell me why people are supporting Gonzales as OC.

The man has no experience creating/running an offense and comes to LSU as a WR's coach.
I've made this point before on other topics, but why would Les Miles promote a coach that has no OC experience anywhere to OC? I would believe that he would hire someone that was either an OC or HC at another program. LSU is not a proving ground for somebody to test out the waters as an offensive coordinator and see if they can create an offense.
LSU is a place where OC's come from other programs that they have built up, proven themselves, and take control of an offense knowing what works. Billy Gonzales has no prior experience, so where is the proof that he could run an offense?

Yes. That's right, he's the WR's coach. But people are INCESSANTLY talking about this guy being promoted if GC gets canned.

He is the WR coach, and the fanatics are already promoting him to OC. I don't see it. I think Crowton needs to go, but I don't think BG is the man Les would give the reigns to.

Right now, he is WR coach; however, everyone has always started at the beginning.
There are many of you youngsters that do not understand hiring and that only would accept a coach that HAS HAD THE TITLE.
TITLES do not mean much.
Experience means more.
It is kinda like calling someone an expert..what does that really mean.
Whether he gets to be OC or not, I do not know, but this I do know....
He can not have been under Urban Meyers system for 10 years and have lived in a vacuum.
In the older generation, we would do the job first and then get promoted and get the title.
People used to say...when am I going to be promoted to the job I have already been doing?
In the younger generations, we give titles freely
and then wonder why people do not perform..
simply... titles does not equal knowledge.
They say, (in many cases) give me the position and I will prove that I can learn to do it.
AND
...once a person has had a title, it seems to be accepted that they know something (without reviewing performance)....
NOT TRUE, maybe / just maybe, they were given the title too soon and without enough experience. What if the "promoter" misjudged personnel or was just a friend....or used a TITLE, in lieu of pay.
DON'T BE FOOLED BY TITLES.

Because he couldn't be much worse than what we had this year. Hard to go down when you're on the bottom. Only place to go is UP!
I am not advocating this, hopefully he hires a replacement OC for Crowton, but this may work.

If Miles thinks he can be a great OC then let him coach. Bill Belichick was the defensive backs coach for the Pats before he became their head coach.
People get hired all the time at high profile programs when they haven't had experience before.
Urban Meyer has never been an offensive coordinator btw, he jumped from WR to Head Coach and he's done pretty well for himself.
Jimbo Fisher's 1st offensive coordinating job was at LSU, he was a QB's coach before that.
Bob Stoops went from DC to Head Coach for Oklahoma.
Dan Mullen went from being the QB coach to OC for Florida
Sean Payton went from QB coach to Head Coach for the Saints.
Bill Parcels went from a DC to head coach of the Giants
Steve Sarkisian's 1st OC job was with USC
Lane Kiffin's 1st OC job was with USC
Petersen has done well with his 1st OC and now head coaching job
Muschamp was 1 year removed from his 1st DC job when he took the job at LSU (Valdesta St. before)
Mike Schultz (TCU) has done a pretty good job with his 1st OC job.
Kevin Sumlin (Houston) has arguably the best O in the country this year, 1st time head coach and was never an OC by himself
Jim Harbaugh has never been a coordinator of any kind
Jeff Fisher has only been the head coach of 1 team for his whole career
Jim McElwain was 1 year removed from his 1st OC job when he joined Saban at Alabama
Butch Davis' 1st head coaching job was Miami
Mark Dantonio's 1st DC job was at Ohio State in 2001 (turned out well for them)
Mark Mangino's 1st OC job was at OU in 2000 (was OL before that)
As clearly shown, a lot of the best coaching minds in football right now where given a position at high profile schools with little experience. Sometimes that is how you get the best coach
LSU won a NC with 2 fresh coordinators

Randy Shannon 1st DC job was at Miami
+Mark Whipple, 1st time OC at Miami (doing a good job)
USC's current OC has never done it before
Ole Miss's OC Kent Austin has never coached has a coordinator before, college football before, or in American before. He brought them from 20 pts per game to over 30.
Bud Foster's 1st DC job was at Virginia Tech
Mike Bobo--> 1st time OC at UGA
Tom Bradley--> 1st time DC at Penn State

Florida - Addazio (Position coach)-> OC

you don't think that their is any possibility that this happens? I don't think it will happen either, but there is certainly a chance
Miles has shown that he would rather let a coach get another job instead of firing them

a lot of people have gained the necessary experience, although not yet received the title.
as a matter of fact EVERYONE, in all jobs, have to go from not..having the title to having the title overnight.
the difference is that the current trend has not been made to LEARN before getting the title and therefore some BUSTS have occurred.
in generations past, by the time you got promoted to a position, you ALREADY KNEW how to perform that position, so the question should not be whether a TITLE has already existed or not, but whether the experience and performance has existed or not.

It's simple... The most popular quarterback on the team is almost always the back-up that hasn't seen the field yet. Combine that with the fact that most of our fans (myself included) think a change is necessary at the OC.
