honestly we shouldnt offer much more than a million.. I think he has a very shaky history with one good year.. he would not be my first pick...

it should be helfrich in a heartbeat...

not that Canada should be first but Helfrich is just as "shaky" or even more than Canada. Not sure when the last time Helfrich actually called plays and he hasn't been able to recruit to save his life.

I thought you did this for a living?

Apparently this is the first gig that Canada has been given full autonomy over the offense. At least that is what he's said.

They went from 68th in Scoring Offense to 10th in his first year. And they have a defensive head coach, so you know it wasn't his influence making it improve so much.

Top salary for a coordinator
could springboard you to a head coach job
O will let him run his offense

I'd say it's a no brainer.

1. Canada has complete autonomy at PItt with Duzz.............

O isn't exactly going to be tinkering with the offense either

3. A conference where its easier to have successful offenses and where going against Bama's talent is not the measuring stick.

Besides Bama and LSU, the rest of the defenses pretty much suck.

4. He made a commitment to Duzz that he would not look to make a lateral move (ie another coordinator position) I'm assuming that has some qualifications on maintaining a competitive salary.

is there anything to back up this claim?

I know its a foreign concept to these folks but they don't realize that most schools in the SEC don't need more from the academic side to support the AD.

Yep

LSU's AD is self-sustaining to the point that it gives $millions BACK to the university. Pretty crazy

Their alumnae actually donate to academics, whereas we in the South think university academics is a hotbed of liberal radicalism, and don't want to have anything to do with higher education - except insofar as our football team can beat your football team.

Now if only we could separate the football team from the actual university...

i dont believe its a significant jump i players from pitt on the offensive side of the ball.

9 of their starters are likely NFL players, they had a killer o line (as does lsu just saying) adn as i said in another thread, a perfect storm for canada.

(dont just say no because you dont think its possible, it is true).

Also pitt fans freak out because of the post-wannstedt years where they had 7 coaches in like 3 years, it was a mess. have not recovered mentally yet.

What I like and I bet Orgeron likes is that Canada features his backs in his spread type offense, it's a power run spread. But with the WRs LSU has and equal QB (for now) LSU could feature the passing game along with it. How is he with QBs? We need a QB coach type of OC at the same time. We need a guy that can show these QBs how to run this offense most efficiently, and when we face a team like bama be able to pass. We'll see
