Pick A or B:

A: Hire Steve Spurrier for 3 years until he starts cashing Social Security checks. In that time, he runs a record of 36-3 and wins one national championship and plays for another, with 2 SEC titles. After retirement, LSU sinks to the level of a 6-8 win program for the next 7 years.
OR:
B: Hire another coach, endure 3+ losses for 3 straight years with steady improvement, solid recruiting, etc, and win 2 NC's over the following 7 years, including 4 SEC titles in that 10 year stretch.

Only a short-sighted moron would pick A.

Hire Tubby and not have to worry about either plans A or B....

I realize this is an abusurd hypothetical, but has Spurrier ever had a 3-year period this successful?

Spurrier has done so great this year at South Carolina, his third year there. They are now 6-6.

Of the two, B is a no brainer!
How about "C"...
Keep the current coach that's putting up 10+ win seasons, and competing for SEC Championships, and if the planets align properly, as they did for Saban in 2003...he may get a couple of shots at a MNC.

I would like a coach who will be here for at least 7-10 years be successful, continue our current streak of playing in the SECCG every other year, and be competative for the NC

this is what a lot of these idiots don't understand. If you keep winning 10 games every year, eventually everything will work out and you'll win it all. That's the only way to do it, to compete for it every year. Unless OSU wins, this will be the 10th different BCS champion in the 10 years of the BCS. It's friggin hard to win it.
Moots, where did you come from? You are the most reasonable and logical poster on here. Save myself, of course.

Well that's the best choice and this board wouldn't even exist if he would have just said he wouldn't go to Michigan. And yes I would believe him if he said it.
