I checked back a few pages to try and see if this has been discussed and didn't find anything. Still, I know how some people go ape shite if you bring up a topic that has already been kicked around. So just in case that has happened....I apologize.
Now, has anyone heard the rumors about Miles meeting with former LSU-Purdue-Kansas State-Texas A&M-Pitt-SMU coach Phil Bennett becoming D Coordinator? Supposedly in the Advocate? How does everyone feel about that?

Phil Bennett is supposedly an excellent coach.
I fell in love with the Dwayne Walker and Coach O rumor however..

Highly regarded coach. He did not succeed at SMU but neither can anyone else.

Good point. A lot has been said of how this defense has no discipline. Pelini was a guy who coached with a lot of energy and got in a lot of people's faces if they failed to do what they needed to do. Mallory and Peveto are supposedly much more laid back and easy going. Do you guys think we need a high energy discipline-minded D coach to come in and kick some butt?

I like Bennett our D the last year he was at LSU was damned good.
When Dinardo was hired he tried to retain Bennett as DC. Bennett took the Texas A&M DC job and said..."This is the best Asst job in college football. I can't think of a better job than this one". He was replacing Bob Davies who left A&M for Notre Dame. He left the A&M DC job for te Notre Dame DC job. I laughed my arse off... "No better asst job huh. How about Notre Dame dummy?"
Bennett is a good guy but pretty thick.

Phil told me he would love to come back to LSU, this was a few years ago right before an SMU Spring Game. I'd like to see him back at LSU.

Actually, Tubbs was the one who replaced Davie and Bennett replaced Tubbs when he went to Ole Miss.
