Petition LSU to hire Jack Del Rio

The man supposedly wants to coach here, has strong family ties here which means he just might stick around a long time, and he wins with a mediocre NFL team. Coaching hires are always a gamble, but this man seems like as sure a bet as we'll find.

Jackie boy is young 44. He 's had success in the NFL. He loves La. The only default he has is he's never coached in college. But he would have time to get used to it and win us some championships.

Yea, we hire a coach that won't be here until Feb. of 08 and we lose all of our out of state recruits. Don't sign me up.

that's short-sighted. this is a down year for recruiting anyway, and I seriously doubt our recruits would be jumping ship if they knew we had a successful NFL coach coming on board.
He can hire Ed O to be his recruiting coordinator while he finishes up in Jville.

I don't see the attraction, aside from being a good dresser and a mediocre coach.

The new coach needs to be announced NEXT WEEK. LSU (Skip, whatever stuffed shirt on the BOS has the power/authority) should have ALREADY been talking to agents of coaches (Spurrier, Tuberville, Rodriguez, Pinkel.)
IF Del Rio is the guy, they need to come out NEXT WEEK and announce it, i.e. something to the effect of, "LSU and JDR announce that upon the end of the JAX Jaguars season, he will assume head coaching duties at LSU. This announcement is made now so that recruiting can proceed and potential recruits know who the new coach is. yada, yada, etc. etc."
