Go Big Red! Pelini Rocks!

Interesting that Pelini is job hunting and yet Miles wont make a statement about his own status. If you were a head coach wouldnt you make another school wait to interview your DC. Seems like after the loss everything is starting to unfold. I guess the SECCG is not that important.....

I agree. I think it is bullshite that he is out on a fricking job interview the week before the SEC CG. Why would Les let him do that? I would run his arse off in the am if I were The Skipper.

PLEASE hire him on the spot and dont let him ocach us!

If its true that he's interviewing tomorrow instead of preparing for Tennessee in the SEC Championship Game, then we are really screwed...

Everyone's jumping off the coach bandwagon, right and left.

Peterson really screwed up by hiring Callahan instead of Pellini the last time you guys were looking for a coach. Our fan base is frustrated with him right now to say the least, and for good reason. I think he is a good guy that contributed to our success over the last few years. I hope is turns out to be everything you guys need to get your program back on track, and I think he would be a good hire for Nebraska.
Everybody on this board is pretty bitter right now, so take comments with a grain of salt. Good luck with your coaching search.

I thought that Sam "coach killer" Keller was the final nail in the coffin for Nebraska?

Everybody's talking about Pelini's blowup against Arkansas, but what about the over 500 yards of offense we gave up to Ole Miss the week before (That's over a 1,000 yards in 2 games). An Ole Miss team that couldn't win one game in the SEC.
How do you do that with at least 7 players that will definitely play in the NFL and the other 4 have a shot.......I don't get it.

I really had my doubts about Pelini from day one. I was use to the blitzing LSU defense. To me he took the aggressive D away from us. I think he is dull on the sidelines also. I like a D coach who is fired up and show some type of emotion when his guys do good.

Injuries to key players?

Look first off I'll agree Pelini is in the LSU dog house right now and rightfully so. I also think key injuries did not help this situation the least bit. Now I will say I think Pelini has a lot to offer a program like Nebraska. He is a good DC and deserves a shot at a HC job. However he does carry some downfalls as well, He LOVES to use a lot of soft zone coverage and hates to blitz. He also hates to recruit which is key as a HC. His zone no blitz has cost us dearly and could have cost us more. LSU gave up 979 yards and 74 points in the last two games.
Sure Ark had McFadden and Jones but like I have said before they can be and have been contained and I am sure the injuries have played a key in the matter as well but that doesn't excuse the fact that we seemed unprepared using 6 and 7 in the box with McFadden in instead of 8 or 9 like other teams who have done better with less talent against them.
It also does not excuse the fact that we have applied no pressure to ANY QB other than JPW all year since the UF game, AND it really doesn't excuse the fact that we did not send more than a weak 4 man rush on 4th and 10 ahead by 7 in the first OT. We send a rush there and force Dick to make a play under pressure on 4th and 10 with his back against the wall and I think we are still number one right now. Instead we watched as Pelini dropped everyone back and allowed Dick what seemed like 7 minutes to find Hillis by the sideline wide open and uncovered. He also has trouble against duel threat QBs working the spread which the SEC is seeing a lot of... Hell every time we faced someone with a QB that could run that spread the field we have been exposed. Good luck with the Pelini Zone in Braska.

Bo Pellini equals Curley Hallman, please take him
Posted on 11/26/07 at 7:21 am to USLTiger
Pellini to Nebraska before the SECCG with one of the defensive coaches being the interim DC and Miles to Michigan after the SECCG and not coaching the bowl game! Just my opinion. After that all bets are off as far as who we go get for our next coach

Thanks for the wish of "Good Luck." We'll need it since our DC is job hunting instead of focusing on the job he has now.

Pellini is the second coming of Lou Tepper. We need a DC who realizes that read and react defenses do not work in the SEC or college football in general. Todays quarterback are way to athletic to not put pressure on them.
