Honestly, if Dave Aranda is who we think he is, then he won't be here for many years to come.

I hope Dave Aranda isn't here for that many years because if he isn't then that means he did a really good job. It would also yet again put LSU on the map as a job that gets you to the big time (HC or NFL gig).

LSU will have good DC's after Aranda, just as they had good DC's before Aranda.

This is true, but him leaving from here is SO much better from a narrative perspective. It helps in recruiting. It should help pull in a big time guy next time. You can sell “our guy is so good that he’s moving straight to the league.”

NFL doesn’t pay $2 milllion plus to assistants....

That's because they don't play in the SEC.

1 million less than the coach. Let's see if Os ego can handle that

Well, here's my take on things:

unless the market jumps way up on coordinators (which I doubt), I think LSU has just solidified the "head coach in waiting" position on this team.

You talk of egos; I doubt it's currently a problem, but with that much invested in Aranda, I don't think Orgeron can touch him if he wanted to. I think if O wants long term security, he better play nice with his offensive coordinator from here on out- if the team has a solid D and struggles on offense, O's in danger and Aranda is safe.

Again I would like to clarify that I'm talking about O being able to handle his salary being so close to Aranda, not their working relationship. I'm interested to see if O angles this for his own contract extension or raise.

This has seemed to be misconstrued and taken as some massive argumentative win for the pomansky crew.

I don't think Orgeron has any leverage whatsoever to demand that.
More likely, he's just become the unofficial interim coach, while Aranda matures. Kinda like a journeyman QB that plays while the high draft pick gets ready to take over.

If O bitches, he will probably get squeezed out sooner. If he plays along, he might get 'promoted' to some assistant AD spot or something like that.

With this contract for Aranda, 0 has lost all leverage he may have had.
