Washington has good good coaches but don't you think Petersen's approach is capping him? He's got 5 recruiting classes and this was by far his least talented defense. Also, unless there are some instant impact players in the last two classes, next year's will regress further.

I have zero complaints about the defense. The scheme has made it so the talent level isn't critical. S&P+ rankings for defense the last 4 years...

2018: 4th
2017: 6th
2016: 8th
2015: 8th

The talent level on our defense will be increasing significantly the next few years as well.

Oklahoma has had more raw talent on their defense the last few years, but their defensive coaches are terrible. If they can get a good defensive scheme in place, they are capable of being elite with the talent that they are able to pull in. I'm not completely convinced that Grinch is elite, but he will for sure be a huge improvement over what they have had. I'd expect their defense to be in the top 40 next year under him, then rising higher than that after another year or two. I could see him topping out around top 10-15 which would be fantastic news for Oklahoma fans if their offense can keep it up.

Yeah, those S&P stats don't give the entire story. UW didn't have the big bodies and pass rushers that you've had. There was just no one on your schedule save a schizophrenic tOSU team to expose that. The Pac is just dreadful.

It's terrible the shape the league is in right now.

You really need one of the big bodies from the last class or this class to be an instant impact. That DL next year is in the worst shape in awhile.

As far as Oklahoma goes, finishing 40th is probably a bit bullish but probably doable.

Tim Kish, the linebackers coach, has retired, paving the way for more very necessary change.

Now Kerry Cooks has to go.
