But

LSU has a very talented roster. It isn't that bad.

This is a powerful article from the Time P's LSU beat writer. I don't think I have ever seen a more critical article on LSU - a team that just played on NY Day and lost a heartbreaker to a pretty good (not great) ND team. Wow!!!!
He went all for Freeze, which is also unusual.

Higgins did not state his POV very clearly. The dark ages will come with limited offensive production and scheme in the face of all the new coaches and their new systems.

One bad year of recruiting can change that very quickly. Recruiting is the lifeblood of a program, once kids get wind of the shite show that is the 0 regime, they will look elsewhere. That's when the problems will get REALLY bad. To be sure, it won't drop off a cliff most likely, but will be a steady decline. The key is to get rid of the problem before that decline becomes too great to overcome within a year or two.
