People really are happy that he's possibly being considered???
Damm right some are happy. No more buffoons running the program.

The boosters ND can't stand him.
Really? They can't stand the coach with the most wins in program history? He has tenure there. He isn't leaving.

What’s so great about Kelly?
Sorry to bump this thread on Matt Campbell day but I wanted to comment yesterday and didn't have the opportunity to.
I don't know if Kelly is a real possibility or not but it's pretty crazy to me the amount of people on here who act like he would be a horrible hire.
The reputation he seems to have gotten is that he's been blown out every time he's reached the CFP or the BCSCG therefore he wouldn't be a good coach here. True. He has. But look at those losses:
2012 - to national champion Alabama
2018 - to national champion Clemson
2020 - to national champion Alabama
In the playoff years, Clemson also went on to blow out Alabama in the championship game. Was bama a bad team that year? Last year Bama blew out Ohio St in the national Championship game. Was Ohio St a bad team last year?
Oklahoma is 0-4 in the CFP yet somehow we think their coach would come here and have different results. Why not Kelly?
All Kelly has done is won. National Champion at the Div 2 level (after losing the finals twice). He took Cincinatti to 2 BCS bowl before Cincinatti was anything special. He has a career .740 winning pct, 9 seasons of 10+ wins.
"But he don't play nobody" - absolute myth. Go back and look at ND's schedules and you'll find home and homes with UGA, Clemson, USC, UNC, Stanford, Iowa St, Louisville, Michigan, VT, FSU... hell he's 2-0 vs LSU in bowl games.
"But he's old" - He's older than our other candidates no doubt. But he still has years left in the tank. His teams do not appear to be stuttering. He is 10 years younger than Saban - what was Saban able to accomplish in his 60s?
He would be a slam dunk hire here. I don't know if he's even an option, but he would be a marquee hire. Way higher floor and higher ceiling than most names being thrown about.
