I remember his defenses at USC were nasty and he's a great LB's coach. I think he took some bad jobs after USC, and there's ties with coach O.

Would be the worst hire for your DC position possible. Outside of Kent Baer probably.

A U dub can and a USC fan would know way better than I would. Out of curiosity, why do you feel that way? Pete Carroll wanted him back after he left USC, iirc.
Maybe it's my outside looking in perspective. Is he like Saban's Muschamp? Really good under the master, but just ok on his own?

Pete Carroll ran the defenses. Holt was a puppet on the sideline. When Holt left Carroll, he was the mastermind behind some of the worst defenses in UW history.

i'll tell you a young DC, who's doing a hell of a job.
Alex Grinch at Wazzu.
He started his career at wyoming, as Secondary coach. Then Pinkel hired him as secondary coach(it's pinkels nephew), and this past year, Mike Leach hired him as his Dcoord.
Wazzu defense is a huge reason they are where they are.
While some viewed his hire at MU, as Pinkel taking care of his nephew, i heard a lot of great things about Grinch, while he was at Wyoming.
Not sure LSU should make the call, but hiring him away from Wazzu, wouldn't exactly be a bad hire for many schools.

Holt is the the absolute worst DC you ever imagined. Never saw defenses so bad as his at UW. A friggin idiot that spent all his time yelling and running up and down the sidelines ACTING. So many players out of position all the time.
