whats the deal with that situation? on the news last night, it was reported that when southern was asked if there would be a press confr. to announce the new coach, they said, "no comment".

My impression was that Stump didn't want to commit to Southern if Holmgren (taking over as President of the Browns) was going to offer him a job in Cleveland. Apparently he and Holmgren formed a good relationship while they were in Seattle together.

This guy wants to stay in the NFL because the pay at SU doesn't even come close. He's buddies with Lafleur and is stringing this out to see if he still has a place in the NFL.
Do you really think he wants to leave the NFL lifestyle to head up the Southern program?

Greg might be looking for a job soon, supposedly when Doug Williams was interviewed he was offered the AD position as well.

This whole thing has to have hurt him. Getting rid of Pete then offering the job to his buddy with a career record of 8-30 or whatever can't smell good up on the Bluff
