We’ll see. I think he’s done very well at ULL, but he also had a huge support staff that no one else in the Sun Belt had and recruited a lot of under the radar sleeper types. That gives a great advantage at a G5 school that it won’t in a conference where everyone else shares those resources.
I don’t think it’s impossible for him to make the transition and do well, but I’m interested to see what will happen.

bullshite. The AAC didn’t even blink in their direction when they added SIX frickING PROGRAMS. They are racking up wins in one of the three worst conferences in the FBS and that just isn’t seen on the same level.
Napier did a great job breathing life into a program few give a shite about, which is clearly evidenced by the non-existent crowds, but that doesn’t even put them within sniffing distance of the top of the AAC and MWC. They don’t stack up in recruiting, facilities, fanbase, success, TV ratings, budget, etc.
The ultimate measure is a NY6 Bowl invite. All of the top G5 programs have gotten one at some point- Cincy, UCF, Memphis, Houston, Boise, etc. ULL will never be considered for one coming out of the Fun Belt. That’s just how it is.

I’m not saying he won’t. I’m just talking about the comment that ULL is a premiere G5 program. It isn’t by any stretch of the imagination, but that isn’t a knock on Napier. That program is what it is, as is the Fun Belt as a whole.

Let me post a couple facts that can answer a lot of questions I see in this thread. Why is UL a premier G5 program? Why is Napier a great coach? etc..

They aren’t. Period. If they were, the AAC would have at least considered them for promotion. Not one program out of UTSA, FAU, UAB or North TX moves any kind of needle, but they all have more potential for growth and impact on a bigger league than ULL.
Then there’s Charlotte and Rice. Damn. That’s how little respect winning games in the Fun Belt has bought you guys. As Josh Pate likes to say when talking about Rice- don’t lose to food. Well, ULL lost to food where it really counts.
