I'm sure I'm far from being the first to make this point, but if Michigan asked for a sit down, Miles is going to give it to them because of his ties to the school as a common courtesy.

I don't believe it speaks either way to whether Les is courting the job.

Were it any other school, it would be more telling.

Because it is Michigan, I don't think it hints at anything either way.

He very well may be, but I just don't see the meeting as an indication that he is gone.

He'd take the meeting even if he had no intention of going to Michigan.

I hope not as hiring a new coach is not a certain thing and it could do damage to this recruiting class which is pretty dynamic it would appear.

However, I am not going to get overly caught up in wanting him to stay because I still vividly remember the UTenn game this year, the end of the Auburn game this year, the Ole Miss game last year, the UNC game this year, the McNeece game this year, the Troy game a couple of years ago and so on.

LSU could improve its position if he leaves. Miles has a lot of quality charateristics. He recruits well, he runs a clean program and he appears to really care about his players. For those reasons, I hope he stays. For the aforementioned bad things, I will not be too upset if he leaves.

The hire to replace him is obviously more critical to this situation than anything else.

Let it play out...

true, but I also think this was all pre-arranged. In fact, I think they knew they were getting Miles when they fired RichRod, that Miles had asked them to keep it quiet as a courtesy and not to be a distraction while he focused on the Cotton Bowl told his team, etc., and that someone blabbed about RichRod hence the fired / not fired / fired bull shite.

also...

It's hard to believe UM would ask to "speak to him" if they didn't have strong indications from Miles's agent that he is interested. They are not going to take a chance of losing face to talk to him and him say no. For this, I don't buy that this could be a token courtesy meeting. Lastly, I am certain Miles and Brandon have discussed this potential opportunity on numerous occasions in the off season, especially if the rumor is true that they vacationed together this summer. THE ONLY DEAL BREAKER I FORESEE IS IF THE MILES FAMILY IS OVERJOYED LIVING IN BTR AND "VETOES" THE MOVE TO ANN ARBOR...I truly believe his family's opinion will weigh heavy on Miles if they disagree with his preference. This parallels his values and integrity.

Over on the scout free Michigan brds there is a post indicating the person on Brandon's AD staff that leaked the firing got fired themselves.
