My questions for the media

I assume that Orgeron, Alleva and Ensminger will all be there. (If any of them is not there, that's telling.)
If to O: "At your hiring, you indicated that hiring the best coordinators was part of your vision for success. While Ensminger is a fine man and an important member of the staff, there is nothing in his experience to suggest anyone that anyone considers him an elite coordinator. I have a few questions:
(a) Did LSU contact other OCs - either in college or the pros - and if so, how many people are we talking about?
(b) Why didn't LSU actually interview anyone else? Was it because LSU could not get anyone to agree to an interview or was it because Coach O didn't want to hire anyone but Ensminger?
(c) (To Alleva, but can be reworded to apply to O)What is the standard that the HC and the FB team will be held to? Does LSU define "success" as 8 wins and a minor bowl or is it too much to expect an SEC west title and the playoffs once every 3 years? What consequences will be enforced if the team loses more than 3 games next year and does not make the playoffs by 2020? Who will hold Coach O accountable?
(i) If Alleva responds "I am the one": then why did you agree to let O reneg on his promise to hire elite coordinators? Was Steve Ensminger your first choice as an OC? If not, who did you hope LSU would hire and what action did you take to try to hire that candidate? If you were unable to hold Coach O accountable now, why should we believe you when you say you will hold him accountable later?
(ii) If Alleva hedges: then what is the role of the AD? The last 2 major hires - HC and OC - you simply promoted position coaches. That literally could have happened if there was no AD. People are rightly concerned as this appears to be a trend and question whether you take seriously your oversight duties. In your opinion, what results should the fans, boosters, and all those who support LSU athletics expect? How do we know Joe Alleva is succeeding and who is the person or person(s) that should be holding Joe Alleva accountable?
(d) Last week, Texas A&M made a serious run at Dave Aranda. Thankfully, LSU was able to rebuff that overture, but only after paying significantly more money (the amount equal to an above average OC) to keep him. The very next day, Texas A&M hired away Notre Dame's DC. Why was Texas A&M able to make us pay more to stay the same and so easily hire a DC at the same time? Why is it that we can't hire a proven, elite coordinator away from a major school? Is it because we aren't offering enough money? Is it because no one wants to work for Coach O for any amount of money? Is it because Coach O (or you) are afraid of "whiffing on the current hire" because of the recent Matt Canada experience?

No one local will ask anything that hard hitting. The only hope will be if a national org is there and wanting to do a hit piece on O and the process.
Not holding my breath for anything other than softballs being tossed up to SE and ZERO at the presser.

You are probably right, but these are questions that at least partly identify the real problems. At this time, LSU would prefer to ignore them and hope that people just settle for 9-wins a season as a ceiling.

Question 1: Coach O, you promised to hire the best coordinators in the country at end of 2016 season...SE was already on your staff, yet you went out and hired Canada, who we are now buying out after just one season. Fast forward to the present, you are hiring SE as your OC. Assuming you are sticking to your word and still hiring the best in the country, would it be accurate to state that you believe SE is the best, or at least one of the best OC in the country?
Question 2: If you do believe that SE is the best (assuming he gives that response which is laughable), then why wasn't he hired at end of 2016 season fresh off all of these great accolades of record breaking offensive performances you speak of?
Question 3: Does this mean that your original assessment of Canada being the best OC was wrong due to your inability to fully vet him or because he was not able to implement his offense fully or because you have the inability to make major decisions for this program and not see them through?
Follow up with Alleva: So Joe, now that we are essentially paying our OC the highest OC salary in the country (including our buyout of Canada and SE salary), would it be safe to say that you believe in Coach O's ability to make decisions on his staff hires if his one major hire was an OC that barely made it to the end of his first season on the staff?
