The next Saban? Saban was/is a defense genius. Never mind the fact on how he builds from the ground floor up. I’ve said it time and time again, the next Saban hasn’t been discovered yet. In fact, probably not even born yet.
7x National Champion, 6 in the last 12 years. Lol, that’s just insane.

So is Aranda. He's not the next Saban, but Dave Aranda is the second best defensive coach (behind only Saban) that LSU has ever had. The 2019 season was an outlier - LOL, that we won a natty in his worst season. I don't want Aranda as the next head coach at LSU because he hasn't proven himself at the HC level. But make no mistake, Dave Aranda is a defensive genius and will be a good head coach at Baylor. Go watch his scheme against Lamar Jackson in his Heisman year.

Aranda was awesome in 2019 actually. Especially once guys got healthy. And especially after the Ole Miss game. It was incredible really.
Look at what the defense did in the playoffs against the other top 2 offenses in college football. Lawrence had 0 TDs passing and Etienne had well under 100 yards rushing.
The 2 games criticized the most were Vandy and Ole Miss. Vandy was never in jeopardy and he admitted they were using the game to try things out. Also, we had guys out and also not really trying in that game. And I don't blame them. I don't care if you give up 30 points when you score 60. I really don't get people who get upset about that.
Then the Ole Miss game was just a really fast QB catching fire. I think this was Delpit's game back and he was clearly not healthy/ready. That was another game that had we not taken a knee at the end we could have still won by 4 scores I believe.

Oh, I know. Most of the rational fans do, too. I just threw that out there because I thought the first response was going to be something about Ole Miss 2019. You don't have to convince me. I've been in the Dave Aranda fan club since before he was hired to coach the defense at LSU. In fact, I told my wife that whoever LSU hires as head coach, I hope I feel the same way I felt when they hired Aranda to be our DC.

1) Urban Meyer (he's a stinkfinger a-hole, but I'd like him to be our stinkfinger a-hole)
2) Rhule
3) Riley
4) Fickell
Now for the more realistic candidates:
5) Aranda
6) Campbell
7) Napier
8) Kiffin
The best thing about the candidates this year is the depth. I have Napier/Kiffin at 7/8, and I would be absolutely fine with either. Hell, I wouldn't even melt over Franklin or Tucker (I know I lost most of you here).
