Properly coached, the players wouldn't be making the same mistakes all season long. Yes, the players should do the right thing, but it is up to the coaches to make sure they do it.

Belowpar,
I sincerely hope that publicizing your "guesses" in this forum was authorized by someone in a position of authority at LSU.

Agreed. Just like the whole point of The New York Times is to get unauthorized information from the U.S. military about planned troop movements in war zones that is inside information and not Defense Department spin. Einstein.

That analogy is so fricked up you should catch the ban.

The point of my original post, as well as the somewhat over the top analogy, was not to criticize TD (or the NY Times, though the NY Times deserves much worse than just being criticized). The point was that the people on the inside who provide the leaks often do so without regard to the adverse consequences their action will have on those to whom, in most cases, they owe loyalty. It is far too much to hope that the media outlet will act responsibly in weighing the benefits of publication against the harm, but it isn't too much to expect that insiders will act responsibly and within the bounds of sound moral judgment. Of course the harm to soldiers whose plans are exposed is greater than the harm to an offensive coordinator who is going to have to make a career change, or the institution that would like to make an orderly transition. But it is harm nonetheless. The question is whether that harm is justified by the benefit the leaker (not the media) derives.
