Mullen or Malzahn for HC, Chavis remains at DC

Keep Frank Wilson, Haley, Cooper, etc.
Give the job to Mullen or Malzahn and let him lead the program and the offense while Chavis continues to stabilize and upgrade the defense.
I'm not sold that we have to find a current head coach. Get a young, hungry coordinator who is a proven genius at what he does (Malzahn) or a young, proven coordinator who just made freaking Mississippi State relevant.
Keep the defensive staff and Gonzo and Frank Wilson, if at all possible.
Average 45 points and 500 yards per game next year and blow the doors off the SEC while playing stingy defense.

That's a lot of trust being put in a guy 5 years removed from being a HS coach if it's Malzahn.

Considering how every accomplished offense we faced basically lit us up we had better IMPROVE on D.

I know. I was thinking that we needed an established coach, but Malzahn has absolutely dominated at Arkansas, Tulsa, and now Auburn. With the talent at LSU, he could continue what he's doing at Auburn. If anyone thinks that Chizick is suddenly a coaching genius, they are smoking something. The fact that Auburn is paying Malzahn over $1 million to be the OC tells you all you need to know about who is getting the job done over there.

I agree and wouldn't be upset with replacing him. But, I think that keeping him on staff if we made a Mullen or Malzahn hire would make a lot of sense. Its not like he was really Les' guy since he spent so much time at Tennessee.

Why wouldn't Chavis go with Miles? What new HC is going to take this job and then let us tell him who's staying? And why are we so worried about Chavis when we are getting a whole new staff?

Malzahn could teach Chavis the inner workings of the spread option, then maybe he could stop it.
Seriously, Chavis would keep the PPG low enough that a Malzahn/Mett combo would create such a large margin of victory, the D would not have to be #1.
