There are a number of things about Miles' perfromancs over the last two LSU football seasons that are hard to understand. From 2005 through 2007, he coached about as well as one would want, considering Katrina, Perriloux, etc. I know that there were a couple of head-scratching decisions, but even the mighty Saban pulls a bone headed play from time to time, witness the fake punt the other night. I don't buy the "won with Saban's players" either. Miles had them for two years by 2007, and if he's the idiot most on this board claim, a national championship would not have happened.
I think that Miles is a good, if not great coach, but that in 2007 he saw his life-long dream, coaching at Michigan, evaporate probably forever. I think that following that, he has just given up. Either he pulls himself together or he'll be fired shortly. If I'm right, though, he should just resign.

with the schedule LSU has to endure next season, I dont see our record improving. Unless Crowton has been saving plays for next year I could very well see us looking for a new head coach next season

There comes times in a professional's life where you have to make the play - business, sports...... Miles knows he's up against the wall, and I think you will see a new Les and Crowton -- gambler style. We do NOT go 6-6.

Is there any possibility that Crowton ran certain plays and became predictable because JJ was having trouble picking up the offense 100%? Just a thought.
But, I will say one thing. I don't know what Crowton does after his first year, but if he would just stick to his first year play calling, he would be a Helluva coach!! Everything changed after his first year, and it makes zero sense. Miles needs to intervene!

We won't go 6-6, but I don't think there will be a new Crowton or Miles. While I like Miles, I think that he has proven that he has an element of stubboness about him. (This is not uncommon in coaches, but sometimes it can go too far.) Crowton did the same crap for 2 years now (excessive throwing with Lee in 2008, not canging any playcalling or personell descisions throughout the year in 09 ).
Our talent alone can get us 8 or 9 wins, but unless we revamp our offensive philosophy (preferably with a new OC) the improvement will be minimal. (There will be improvement just because JJ will be one year older and there's now way our o-line can play any worse). Had we elected to hire a proven OC, I think the peices would be in place to make a more serious run at the SEC. Alas, Alleva is just being beyond stubborn in his failure to cover the buyout of Crowton.

Personally i think it will be balls out next year for Miles and Crowton. I think they have no choice. I think they both know that it's all on the line next year and wither they win or go home! It could be a complete disaster, but i don't think they play it conservative next year.
