per Monroe newspaper article

quote:

Edwards, whose brother Eric Edwards played for Saban at LSU, is considering the Crimson Tide and Tigers, along with Florida.

Edwards said he's talked to Miles recently too.

"I brought it up and asked him if he was really going to Michigan," Edwards said. "He said, 'Tyler, to tell you the truth, I plan to stay here for many years. I love it here. I love the town; I love the coaches. If you came here, I'd be your only coach.'"

Please don't ruin it for the gullible people around here that think all our current coaches are the honest saints and evil devils coach elsewhere.

I'm sure he told all of his Ok State recruits that he was leaving to come to LSU when they asked.

If you read carefully, its easy to see Miles did not say he will stay at LSU.

"To tell you the truth"- he is basically selling himself here trying to talk Edwards into beleiving something. If he was really telling the truth, why say "to tell you truth" before saying it? Do you tell your mother, "Mom, to tell you the truth, I love you"? Nah.

The most telling part is: " I plan on staying here for many years" what exactly does that mean? Sure, he plans on staying here, however if UM calls calling those plans will change.

I know it's coach talk and he's probably going to leave, but all over this board you have people saying how he says what he feels and that he is honest. Lets see how honest he really is then

Miles slipped up and actually lied here.

Nah, I dont have an answer for that one. Actaully, its a lie in and of itself. Les would not be his ONLY coach. He would have head coach, offensive coordinator and his position coach. I dont know but I dont beleive that, that language is too loose. when someone says "to tell you truth" thats a red flag right there and then the whole I plan to be here is just coach talk. I would take that article with a grain of salt, just like his injury updates.

All that article tells us is that miles has not been offered the um job. of course he is going to tell a recruit that just in case they don't offer and he ends up here.

All this means is that as of right now, Les Miles' current employer is LSU, and his job is to recruit for LSU and coach LSU. Until he signs a contract elsewhere, nothing he said is a lie.

Do all coaches lie? I was told that they do not consider it lying, but part of the job.
