Tuscaloosa news stated that les's agent called MI several times to see how he was in the list of HC. and they never returned his call so the agent called again and still no return.....
just saying what i heard strange if they wanted permission to speak with miles seems they would have returned his agents' calls.....

I think the UM people are real pissed with the AD for that. Apparently, b/c he was told to wait till after the SECCG he decided to go sailing and left his cell phone where ever and Miles' agent kept trying to call, but b/c the AD was out sailing he couldn't return the calls.

Through intermediaries, the Free Press learned through multiple sources in the Michigan and the Miles camps, U-M had gone way down the line with Miles -- to the point where contract length and terms were no longer an issue and discussion had moved to his staff. From all indications, Martin had pinpointed Miles as his guy early. Right up until Saturday's announcement that Miles was staying at LSU, many people at Michigan believed Miles was still Martin's guy.

Read that Detroit Press article too. Decided to ignore it as a ranting diatribe intended to perpetuate the self-aggrandizing MI attitude. Besides, Mitch Albom gets paid to print his crap there. Need more reason to just ignore it?

I think it's foolish to discount it so quickly.

it's not over with by a long shot .. skip may have trouble getting this contract past the board of supervisors today ... if he gets it by them .. then the ball's in les' court and he has to sign it ... sure, it's unconcionable to think that this would happen before the NC game .. but then again it swallowed the arkansas week and damn near took the SECCG with it ...

Les will sign it. He's made up his mind and has moved on. If the guy even had a small belief that he was going to UM, no way he goes around and tells everybody I will be the coach next year. The guy is not Saban.

saban never said he was going to be our coach next year when he left for the dolphins ...

Where does one go sailing in 30 degree weather in Michigan?

Martin was in Key West, FL over the weekend
I guess this means that what Miles said was true, that neither he nor his agent ever spoke to UM because when the agent tried to call him, nobody was home.

dude was sailing, brah.
and there's increased optimism on UM's side, btw...
small ray of hope, but it's there.
gotta remember that Les signing the extension really doesn't mean shite in the grand scheme of it all, the buyout will still be the same.

here's a theory...
why did LSU rush Miles to make a decision?
why not wait till after the SECCG?
I don't think we were really worried about beating Michigan to the punch.
I think we were being pressured to hurry it up by the agent of the coach we had lined up to take his place: Sexton.
That coach, who was waiting for LSU to open up before he signed his contract: Tubs.
Just a guess, but it all seems to fit.
