Sorry to upset you, but damn...you posted it like it was some development that MUST. BE. SEEN!! Everyone's trying to break the big story, and not a single one of us knows anything more than the next guy.

I hadn't seen that interview yet...I like and respect Miles as a coach and hope he comes back as bad as everyone else, but after seeing that interview...he gone.

Miles is leveraging holding LSU hostage. He will get a bigger deal out of desperation by LSU. Book it.

I don't think Michigan admits they want to interview Miles unless they are pretty sure he will accept the position. They do not want to be embarrassed again.

This is why they do the behind the scenes probing thru a search firm.

So, this announcement is very meaningful, IMHO

Exactly. Whenever they hire someone they will give the "He was our top choice, the only one we looked at" speech. Just like Fla did a few weeks ago, when it was pretty clear that they had contacted other people.

Dude, are you naive? or just plain stupid? Do you remember Michigan ever asking for permission to interview Les during 2007?

Considering that we could be looking for a new coach a month before signing day, yeah I consider this development as post worthy.

Not sure they'd give him more money, (LSU), but perhaps some restructuring such as years added, bonuses for SECCG or BCSCG, that kind of thing. I agree with that...that he's just doing business.

I imagine that a conversation something like this took place today:

[Miles]: Did you see that long pause and vague answer I gave in that post-game interview!

[George Bass]: I did. You did great. We have them nervous now. We'll have you a new contract at LSU in no time.

The post game interview says it all, would not commit to coaching at LSU next year. He's gone, who will be the next coach @ LSU????

LSU is not in a position to decide. Miles isn't a great gameday coach but he can recruit and the players do play hard for him. This is absolutely the worst time for someone come in and try and steal Miles. Like I said, most top candidates are gone or signed extensions. Miles is in a situation to get more if he wants it. The only way I see it otherwise is Alleva is basically saying, "well you're not going to hold us hostage, goodbye, we prepared for this with another candidate". So unless LSU was prepared with a candidate in the wings(I highly doubt it), they will give Miles a bigger deal to keep him happy. If that just means bigger bonuses and more rollover years...we'll see.

Neither. Just don't believe it's any big development, since it's WELL known they want him.

I TOTALLY agree it sucks that we're going thru this so late in the game. It sucks big time.
