Interesting info - particularly "Bertman's turning into sort of an arse about these things."

what is really interesting is how Miles has suddenly become their guy and there is no doubt that Miles is the coach they want

I guess you always want what you cant have

It depends what they can offer him, and I'm not talking about money.

Lloyd Carr and probably most of the current Michigan assistants (OC Mike DeBord and the Strength And Conditioning coach at the least) would need to go for Miles to take the job, due to a combination of potential back-stabbing (Carr) or outright incompetence (DeBord and the S&C coach).

He'd also need to have a larger-than-normal pool of money for the assistants, which was a requirement for him to take the OK State and LSU jobs.

Bill Martin may need to go as well, but that's looking more and more likely given the way he's completely fumbled this search.

While I think that Michigan can stomach paying Miles probably $3 million a year, they're probably balking at having to eat the contracts of Carr's current assistants AND pay big money for Miles' new assistants in addition to the buyout of his LSU contract.

(Notice, UM fans, I'm not saying that Michigan CAN'T afford it... I'm saying they're too cheap to pay it.)

If all of the above aren't done, I don't see Miles walking away from a sweet situation at LSU to be continually harassed by Carr, be stuck with Carr's current crappy assistants, and still have to pay the buyout of his LSU contract.

Skip Bertman IS an arse, that is not news. Ask anyone that ever played for him or has had to deal with him!

How is Skip an arse? Miles signs a contract then starts talking UM shortly thereafter. Exactly how does that make Skip an arse?
