There's actually some support for the McElwain hire by the sane Gator fans that understand that you can't wait on Kelly to tell you no after the season.
However, this may be more smokescreen than smoke. Mr. Davis wouldn't mind spending some jet fuel to help Foley with playing keep away with the press and insane football fans.

I doubt Boom is being paid $6.3. I'm thinking there was a renegotiation of the buy-out in time and money since he resigned.
Perhaps McElwain had some outs in his buy out for specific schools. That happens all the time.
